Tropical Fish Tank
3 Answers
I have a small 30 litre tank which has been running for 12 weeks now. I have had neon tetras in it up till Sunday and over night the water went really cloudy and it looks like rolling clouds. Ican not get the PH up from 6.0 and I have got ammonia which has shot up to 8.0 all of a sudden, up till Sunday it has been sitting at 0.50. I have taken the fish out and put them in my large community tank as they were all arond the surface of the water. I did a 50% water change yesterday but the water is still very cloudy ,any suggestions

Try using a chemical such as filter start which should help a lot during this stage as you need to build up the good bacteria in the filter etc in order for the water to have good bacteria in.
Thanks BIGDOGY I have an air pump and stone, I have since done a larger water change and it is clear now. The ph is now 6.4 but the ammonia is reading 1.0 so I have not put my tetras back in the tank yet, do you think it would be advisable to put a couple of fish back in now or leave it a bit longer Thanks
