have just spent half an hour watching a family of two adult and four young jays. the adults have been regular visitors to my bird table and this morning brought their family - brilliant - the resident pied wagtail couple also brought new family. Isn't that great!!

It must know that the dog is too bone idle to get up and chase it. It comes in because I put peanuts in there for other birds and the squirrels .Judging from the frequency of its visits, often every few minutes, it must still have young to feed. Jays have the habit of burying acorns, resulting in many an oak tree in England, so we may have peanuts sprouting in the garden come Spring!
