The first ospreys have arrived at Rutland Water.
03(97) male arrived on Sunday in the snow and 00(09), his daughter arrived today. Last year she was also seen at the Dyfi Osprey project in Wales

Sounds like an awesome sight!

Where have they come from and have they come here to breed ?
Question Author
They are in from West Africa where they winter. Ospreys have been breeding at Rutland for 18 years. There should be 5 or more pairs when they all return plus their young from previous years. This is the Rutland Osprey site http://www.ospreys.org.uk
The webcam is on the Manton Bay nest as usual
Aye, the Loch of the Lowes male has returned as well and is getting jiggy with a new female. Feel sorry for him if 'Lady', his old mate, returns soon. Though considering her age and illness 2 years ago, that may not happen. We were all surprised when she showed up last year.
