How about a sticky Ed for helping Molly raise some momney for their Sea Cadets Boat that was shown on BBC East (with her).

We came up with the idea of sending £5 or £10 to their Treasurer of the Cadets with the address c/o TS Europa, Lowestoft Sea Cadets, The Drill Hall, st Peters St, Lowestoft, Suffolk NR32 1QA. This avoids the "personal details" issue.

I think some 25 plus of us have already pledged

I agree with you on all points Helen.

I actually reminded Molly to thank everyone, not just MR (it might even be in this post) and I don't think she did yet.

This is gonna sound like sour grapes no matter how I word it, and it really isn't, I am merely commenting on an observation that many seem to have noticed already regarding Molly.

Indirectly, I started all of this, because following on from Molly's original thread last Sunday, I recorded the item on look east on my Digi. Many AB'ers not being in the area wouldn't have seen it, and it wasn't coming up for online veiwing on the beeb.

In order that others COULD get the chance to see, I actually did a copy from the TV taken with my camera - not brill but good enough - and posted it on Youtube. Anyway, so as not infringe her rights, I posted a message for her telling her I had done this, and whether she wanted me to post the link.

I got a mixture of stick and praise from others for that, and eventually Molly came on and joined in the thread, and from that the offers of contributing started.

Now it may be that another thread would have apppeared and a similar thing happened but irrespective of that, it started because I tried to do her a favour, which was neither acknowledged by her as such or thanked. Nor was any consideration or thanks given that the thread was there to take off in the way it did.

OK, that was a personal thing for me to notice, but I saw on that thread and others since that when it comes to thanking people for taking the trouble to do something, Molly was a bit backward at coming forward.

OK, she's a kid admittedly, and my own personal treatment of her has changed since I found that out and saw (prior to that I found some of the things she posted a bit obtuse and made sarcastic comments) but now I show restraint and tolerance.

However, that said, when I was that age I was able to see kindnesses done to me and respond in an appropriate fashion, and I don't think Molly has done that. She has gained respect from many I know, but there are also many who feel as I do
and I didn't know there was a word limit. All I'm basically saying is yeah, she's a nice kid, better than many you see or hear about, and she has made some real respect from many on here, but being a bit blase about some things doesn't do any favours. Why spoil the ship for a halfpenny of tar (or even boat for ta)
Maybe its cadets tonight and Molly will realise that cheques have been pouring in from ABers and that all this support, both in terms of spreading the word and financial, is for real. Its possible that up until now she's been a bit unsure whether this is all a wind up or not.

Lets give her a chance to digest it and explain to the adults around her who we are and whats gone on. After all she didn't expect any of this; in the beginning all she wanted was for us to know she'd been on the tele!

Anything we've done is of our own accord. It would be good to know how their fund is going, but that's all for me.
Molly's threads get most hits, good/bad, she handles it without undue malice. I cant wait to hear if she knows of MR generous donation.

Postdog respecting her privacy by holding back your video for her consent is also commendable.
I didn't make a donation because I was particularly concerned about the cadets losing their boat (shame on me). Most of my donations go to animal charities ..... always have and always will.

I made an exception in this case because I think Molly deserves it. She's taken lots of stick on AB. IMO some of it justified, some of it unnecessarily harsh, and some of it quite cruel.

She has handled it all very well. No flouncing. No slanging matches. No bearing grudges.

I think that's quite something on AB. The lass gets the thumbs-up from me. :o)
hear hear mrs C. I was wrong about the girl too and I hold my hands up to this

the cadets will be coming out soon, see if Molly gets a mention from the leaders
yeah i supose so maid-up which is also a kind of response to what postdog was saying, before tonight I didn't know if anyone really had donated.

BUT if you read my other thread you'll see some people have :D Maam was surprised by the fivers she recieved - I didn't know what to say about MR maybe if he doesn't mention me I don't have to say anything . . .
I agree. Mark Rae has been extremely kind. What a fantastic thing to do!

(Sorry to go off-topic, DT .... Bobbs, love your avatar!)
I bet she was shocked when she saw MR's donation
My contribution will in no way impinge on any other charities I support, we choose to give where we wish and awareness was raised here and prompted my response.
How do Molly lass. :o)
I am getting ready with the red, white and blue mrs c...
