I reckon there should be a section where you can click and it explains how to keep track of your questions and answers etc.  I have just found out (by asking a question) that you can do it by clicking on 'my profile' but why not have a 'help' section so that newbies don't have to ask?

PS - Forgive me if  there already is a help section that I just haven't seen to date.

That's a good idea, shivvy. It would mean that all sorts of useful, practical Qs & As could be grouped - the basics like you mention but also how to:

  • upload pix into an A (or a Q);
  • refer people to another post or site or page;
  • change the name to sthg shorter;
  • avoid adding the </P> to your link;
  • if that happens how to open the page despite its presence!

There must be so many other tips, explanations that have been posted which us laymen haven't even seen, come to that not even dreamed possible!

Good ideas shivvy & Artful.

Hi all,

We do have an FAQs - the link can be found at the bottom of each page. We have attempted to answer the most popular questions regarding usability issues. Have a look at that if you haven't already. If there are things - as Artful so expeditiously detailed - that you feel are missing from the FAQs please mention them on this thread and we can update the doc accordingly.

Also, please remember that if you have any queries your fellow ABers are a very helpful bunch and you can always drop me an email from the Contact Us page. Chocolate cake optional.

AB ED

I understand ABEd, but the FAQ's section isn' t highlighted in its importance, in its usefulness  whereas putting it on as a Topic would mean people would regard it more as a tool which I think is what you want, isn't it, shivvy

Abso-bloomin-lootly Artful.

It needs to be a section in its own right and a bit more obvious to newbies on their first few visits.

Answerbank might well know that they have all the answers in the extraordinarily (dififcult to view, and) tiny FAQ section at the bottom, but nobody else does - the amount of questions that are asked on a daily basis would suggest that this needs to be a bit more prominant on the main page.

Presumably if you need to have a "How to use Answerbank" section you wouldn't know how to use it.....
OK Gevs, perhaps you know how to do everything. Congratulations! But I was thinking it'd be useful for cretins like shivvy and myself and quite a few others, I believe.

Artful - thanks for your response to Gevs.

When you are a new user, it is answers like Gevs that make you reluctant to ask questions or make suggestions.  It kinda dents your confidence when you get a response like Gevs.

Don't worry about him shivvy, just continue questionnnning, answerrrring and suggestttting there will always be people around more than willing to help and join in and back you up.

Anyway I still think your suggestion is a really good idea, ABEd!!!

Gevs is just pulling your leg, shivvy; one of the pleasures of AB is the latitude for a little joking without malice (I hope). Don't be deterred, plenty of people specialise in giving serious, sympathetic answers (Artful is one).

Ooh, jno, it's my turn to blush now! What a lovely thing to say, thankyou!

Isn't jno lovely, shivvy? I told you there would be plenty of people around and jno is jolly, jolly helpful.

Confidence is now fully restored and I'm off to question, consider and query to my hearts content!!

Thanks all : )

My response was made with tongue firmly in cheek.

Artful, your perception is correct, I do know how to do everything, thanks for noticing and thanks again for the subsequent congratulations!!
