Why use Gravatr??

Dear Ed, can't you change the way we do our avatars? This gravatar nonsense takes a ridiculous amount of time to change them. On FB and Twitter it's almost instantaneous, here we have to wait for DAYS, and then we don't know if it going to happen???

netibiza.....I can't see that Viv and I will ever have an Avatar; unless you are able to wave your magic wand and put matters right with the Gravatar site.

It is the case that, whilst factor30 gave me good advice to see all intended Avatars, I am still unable to establish one. Gravatar accepts the file reference from my computer and then presents me with blank areas to crop. If I proceed further, there then appears three blank black squares.

You were 100% right to ask the Ed if there was an alternative to the present system of compiling Avatars for AB.

vivandron- I had the same 'black square' problem when I tried to use a picture from my files, so I have had to use pictures I got from the internet from an avatar site .

As it seems to be a problem with files from your computer try this.

Goto http://www.tinypic.com and on the fisrt page click on the browse button, find and select the picture you want as your avatar and then click open. now click on the green upload now button.

On the next page there will be a list of four addresses under share this picture, click once in the bottom one (direct lick for layouts). This will highlight it, now hold down CTRL and press C to copy the address into the computers clipboard.

Now goto http://www.gravatar.com , login and select manage my gravatars under the my account menu. Now click on Add new image and on the next page select "image from the internt", click in the box that comes up labled URL and then hold CTRL and press V to paste the address in the clipboard. if you now click next you should get a usable picture to crop as an avatar.

Thanks Chuck for your advice......However, I think I will just give-up on this one.

tinypic accepted my piece of clip art, but trying to get it into AB was impossible.

Consequently, I am calling it a day on Avatars.

However. I would wish you to have a ta from me.

I'm back again folks and this time with an Avatar.

For info; especially to ChuckFickens: My problem with Gravatar seems to have been that I had 'Adblock Plus' engaged on my computer. So I dis-engaged it temporarily and you can see the result.

O.K.....I'm the piper but Viv calls the tune!!!
