I am reading it,bought it out of curiosity, just gone passed an erotic chapter.I found the beginning to be a bit flat I would have put the book away if it wasn't for all the hype it had gotten,so I continued on and I must say Its getting better, look forward to seeing just what the rest entails.
"all the hype"

says it all really
What Victoria Coren said about it in The Observer ...

"At one point, a man's penis is referred to as "his essentials". It's so un-erotic, you could read it to sex offenders and call it therapy."

"Let's examine what Christian says as he stands there, wanger in hand: "I want you to become well acquainted, on first name terms if you will, with my favourite and most cherished part of my body." Oh please. This is supposed to be our 21st-century Mr Rochester, and he talks like Alan Partridge."

So ... all hype? ... yes, I think so.

Here's VC's full article ...

I agree with VC. I thought it was a bit "playing field".

It was like ... "Look, this man's holding his willy (snigger, snigger)"

Still, it's making EL James a few quid, so at least someone's happy.
it gave women some well earned 'me time' away from their beer drinking, xbox playing husbands by creating a charachter so far fetched the books may've just as well be set in Narnia.
when you read it get some onions to go with the tripe
Alternative place to go for some "me time" ...

lol Jayne, VC may have uncovered its secret appeal....
The bit about the pancakes, woof?
Can't abide Victoria Coren but I do agree with her. Fifty shades of (badly written) soft porn.
hype, Im guessing a lot of people bought it to see what the fuss was about.
indeed Jayne....guilt free gluttony.....what woman could resist?
I read them all, didn't take them too seriously (lots of randomness to laugh at) and enjoyed them, pretty mindless easy reading really.
"...on first name terms if you will..."
There aren't actually that many first names of choose from. I can think of Willy, Dick, Percy", but then I start to struggle, unless you include titles such as His Lordship the Bishop.
The greatest thing about books like that us the inspired works of criticism they generate. Victoria Coren's is a gem. I feel as though I've got all I need out of the book just by reading articles about it! That is surely enough. It's plainly a book for people who've never read porn before. That would obviously rule me out anyway lol
nothing is special about the book x
Everybody I know is reading or has read it and they were all like you HAVE to read it....i've never started reading (never finished with it got bored) such utter !@~#* in all my life.
I have just finished the 2nd book , I had to keep going til I found out what his headwrecking problem was !
