Latest Book Buy?

Mine was 'The darling Strumpet' by Gillian Bagwell. I bought it after going to see a play ' Playhouse Creatures' about the first ladies of the stage ... including 'Nell Gwyn' I wanted to find out more about her. What has been your latest purchase & why?

Mine was Cooking in Ten Minutes...by Edouard de Pomiane. First published in 1930,it's a tiny classic I've been curious about since I first read about it a year or so ago.

The last one I bought to read was The Martian by Andy Weir.

Went on a little trip in October last year, and a Woman on the Train was reading it. I thought it looked like my sort of thing, and it was on offer in WH Smiths. It's a fantastic story and it kept me hooked from page 1. They're making it into a Film with Matt Damon in the lead role.

Just downloaded a sample on my Kindle pasta, looks very interesting. Says he wasn't a chef but a scientist/ nutritionist. Are you enjoying it so far?

Her Fearful Symmetry by Audrey Niffennegger, because I saw it in a charity shop & I had enjoyed The Time Traveller's Wife.

BUT it was quite disappointing - it started well enough but had a very poor ending in my opinion

The Missing and the Dead by Stuart MacBride because I just love his writing and his Det. Logan McRae character.

Shadows In Bronze and Poseidons Gold (which I already have) by Lindsey Davis. Mum had read them I couldn't find these in her collection and I wanted something new to try when I'm ready

there's a line in Cymbeline, "She played the strumpet in my bed"... I remember Jilly Cooper saying they only got versions suitable for schoolgirls at her school, and it had been censored so it read "she played the trumpet in my bed".

Queenie, I have a BIG crush on Logan and feel quite sort for him especially as he's constantly being bullied by Steel. I love his books, They're gruesome yes, but I love his sense of humour I find them very funny. I've got all MacBride's books and have just re-read them all... again.

I'm desperate for a new Logan book though. I'm hoping I can maybe go see Stuart MacBride in the Edinburgh book festival. Me too I hate Steel. I did read the 45% Hangover, it was a hoot! I've got them all (apart from the first one) and Halfhead and Sawbones I think it is but its not to say they aren't on my to read list. Have you read the Ash Henderson books? I've got them but not read them yet?

Yes, I've read the Ash Henderson books, but I prefer poor old Logan . If you get a chance to see him at the Edin book festival, I'll be pea green with envy. I'd LOVE to meet him.
