Trying to nail a quote from one of the above (I’m fairly sure).

A bore had trapped some friends in a railway compartment, and when he finally finishes his interminable story, says “But I could tell you something more interesting than that.”

To which the narrator appends one of the drollest lines in English...

“And nobody doubted him.”

Anyone recognise it? I suspect it’s JKJ, as it smacks of him.

...but why would they be in a train if they were on a boat?
