Can you tell me the name of the great river of India that is sacred to Hindus and lifeblood to much of southern part of the sub-continent

Ganges

The Ganges is in northern India. Click here for a web-page about India's sacred rivers. There are two referred to which are in southern India.

If this is for the crossword (can't remember which one )DT perhaps? The answer was Kaveri. There was a short kerfuffle on Q&P as a lot of us had put Ganges !!
I'm glad to see the Kaveri was correct, that being one of the two listed in my link above, Shaney.
