Now that JK Rowling has officially named her next book who do you think is the half-blood prince?? I initally thought it could possibly be something to do with Neville Longbottom, but have since remembered that both his parents were wizards therefore he is full blood. Anyone any suggestions as to who it could possibly be??

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.Tom Riddle is the HPB.JK said somewhere that he would play a more important role in the new books. I know Riddle is Voldemort, but he is only the past voldemort, as shown in COS. So, since there are clues in COS, he is the most obvious, yet the most aesily to forget. Although he is half blood, he is the heir of slytherin, and has always been out to get "mudbloods", and halfbloods. j. k. said its not vlodemort, or potter, but she never said it wasn't riddle.
HEY PEOPLE!!!! JKR HAS ALREADY SAID THE PRINCE IS NOT HARRY OR VOLDEMORT!!!! so... i think its probabley a new character, as said by this Pickle guy above. i do agree with Pickle. its the most reasonable answere to it. ok and one more thing: what Magic_freak said that it could be anyone, IT CANT BE!!!! draco malfoy is a pureblood, so it cant be him. (though it would be extremely interesting if he was)
I dunno who it is. JKR said it wasnt voldemort or harry and the character was prob. introduced in the 2nd book. Colin Creevey is a mudblood-cant be him. Justin Finch-Fletchley-mudblood. Lockhart?? dunno. JKR says on her website that MARK EVANS DOESNT MEAN ANYTHING!! ITS JUST A NAME!!!It could be Seamus.
Is Colin Creevy a half-blood? He said his father is a milkman, but nothing about his mother. Colin said "we" didn't know that the stuff I was doing was magic. By "we" does he mean his family? If his mum is a witch, she'd know magic when she sees it. I'm just waiting (very impatiently) for the book to come out so we can all stop guessing (but my guess is still Hagrid).
JKR has mentioned that Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince was a working title for the second book, The Chamber of Secrets. She also has mentioned that it is neither Harry or Voldemort but has stated that some enthusiasts have been able to figure the title out. Thus, it cannot be a new character if it worked for the second book and people have figured it out (how can you figure out something that does not yet exist?). I think that it's Tom Riddle. That sounds crazy because he became Voldemort, but in CoS, Dobby tells Harry that the "terrible things" that were about to happen at Hogwarts did not involve Voldemort. We find it the end that yes, they did involve some form of Voldemort as Tom was a younger form of him. When Harry questions Dobby about this, Dobby smiles and tells Harry that he was giving him a hint. He says that he wanted Harry to keep an open mind and know that Voldemort could have been alive under any other name. JKR, as she is a very talented writer, plants clues throughout all of her books and has everything mapped out. So perhaps when she is saying that the Half Blood Prince is not Voldemort, she's giving "hints" just like Dobby. And who else in the second book could possibly be the Half Blood Prince? All of the other titles have had a lot of meaning which makes me think that the Half Blood Prince had a major role in Chamber of Secrets as well.
i'm not sure if this posted so I apologize if it's a duplicate..gkid, I think Lupin is important but not the HBP. if you remember at the end of GoF Peter Pettigrew was given a silver hand. As we've learned in folklore, silver kills werewolves. so i think we met the demise of Lupin and it's going to be by Wormtail's hand..literally. I think we've exhausted every avenue of who the HBP may or may not be. so let's move to a different topic. in your opinions, what was that veil that Sirius fell behind? is he dead? is it a doorwa into another realm? it's obviously something unique if Harry could hear voices coming from it. any theories? intelligent lot chatting on this boards, so let's diversify, people!!! :o)
It' NOT Mark Evans, "sweetie," that answer was REALLY imaginative and REALLY wrong. JKR said that she laughed so hard she fell off her chair when she heard that "storge" title; and she would NEVER give that much information anyway. Also, Tom Riddle is named after his father, Tom Marvolo Riddle. Tom Riddle, Jr. killed Tom Marvolo Riddle and his parents, who are also Tom Riddle, Jr.'s grandparents. No one survived Avada Kedavra with the exception of Harry. We know that Colin's a muggle-born, not a half-blood because in the second book Lee Jordan is counting all those who have been petrified and he mentions that all of them are muggle-borns. I really don't think it's Hagrid, Seamus or Dean either because although they fit the half blood description, JKR said that at one point COS was title the Half Blood Prince. I mean, CoS definitely would not have worked as Harry Potter and Seamus Finnegan. Hagrid, Seamuse and Dean are not main characters in that book. Tom Riddle is though.
I submitted an answer a couple of days ago saying that I think the HBP will be Colin Creevy. After some thinking on thi subject (and daily searches on the internet for any news about the book) I think that JKR will make the HBP a new character. First off I think everyone is taking her hint about CoS and HBP too literally. JKR said that CoS holds hints about book 6.
Also, I think that the HBP will follow the normal pattern of the books and the title always introduces something new. The Chamber of Secrets wasn't mentioned in SS (PS for UK), PoA wasnt mentioned in either (well Sirius was but not as anything important, GoF wasnt mentioned at all and the OoTP wasnt mentioned either. I think JKR will follow this pattern and introduce the title as something new.
And sorta off this topic but I think the Hand of Glory Mentioned in CoS will be one of those things that shows up with greater importance in one of those books. Just my theory.
I think that Hagrid is the half blood prince because 1.only his mother was magical. 2. JKR said there were clues in the Chamber of Secrets, and Hagrid was the person they thought was originally opening the Chamber and 3. Even after Hagrid was expelled for supposedly killing a mudblood, Dumbledore kept him at school which would make you think that Dumbledore knows he is important and wants to keep him close.
ok i'll go slow for the pleople who think it's Harry Voldemort or Malfoy.
She said there are clues in the second book.Who is one of the main characters in the 2nd book?Who's sercert is reviled who just happens to be half wizard.Got me so far.So the only possiable person any one can logically think of given the clues at hand is none other than Rubes Hagrid.
AND FOR ALL THE STUPID PEOPLE WHO THINK IT'S MARK EVANS SHE WAS KIDDIN ABOUT THAT IF YOU READ JUST BEFORE THAT IT SAYS THAT HE IS NOBODY. AND THE WHOLE PILLAR OF STORAGE IS A HOAX THATS IN THE PART ABOUT MARK BEING THE KEY AND YOU HALF TO BE THE DUMMIEST PERSON ON EARTH TO NOT BE ABLE TO SEE WHEN SOMEONE IS JOKING I MEAN COME ON!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think it is Remus Lupin. One, if you remember he is a half-blood. Also, today I was reading in a news site about her stating it is not Harry or Voldemort, but then she put a large stress on the fact that Remus is a half-blood. So I think it's him. I could post a link later. Also, if you go to mugglenet, they state there that she said in an interview, Mark Evans has nothing to do with Lily. He just happens to have the same last name as her. *blinks* But who knows. Maybe we are all wrong and it's going to be some crazy surprise twist!
