Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince

Now that JK Rowling has officially named her next book who do you think is the half-blood prince?? I initally thought it could possibly be something to do with Neville Longbottom, but have since remembered that both his parents were wizards therefore he is full blood. Anyone any suggestions as to who it could possibly be??

It is said that it is neither Harry Potter nor Voldemort. I think it is Neville Longbottom, even though it is said he is pure blood. In the first book it was said that his family thought he didn't have any magical powers, but in the end he still lot invited to Hogwarts. So maybe he is adopted with one parent magical and one not, leaving him half blood.

JK Rowling said that the prince has already been introduced, and played a part in the Chamber of Secrets. Re-read it to try and figure out who!

To correct something about Malfoy being the HBP. If you read the part in ootp where harry and sirius is looking at the family tree it states that the malfoy family is pure blood so he can't be the HBP. Has anyone even thought about Ron. I mean I know his mom,dad, and brothers are magic folk but what about his grandparents, I mean we don't know anything about them so one of his grandparents or someone higher in the family tree could be a muggle and Ron could really be a Half-Blood.

well okay at first i also thought it was either harry or Voldemort but then i saw what JK put on her website but then i thought about hagrid but that doesn't seem logical then i thought Seamus we don't no much abou thim yet you never now and in i think the first book he says his dads a mugggle maybe its him i also strongly agree with the mark evans rumor accept for the fact that harry had no other relitives other then the dursly's unless he was unknown

Ok I can understand all of your feelings about Mark Evans BUT, If you read everything then you will know that the clue about The Half Blood Prince is in Book 2 Chamber of Secrets. There for Mark Evans can't be it because he was not mentioned in CoS. If I am wrong let me know. I am re-reading Book 2 again to see if I can figure it out and if I do then I will let you all know.

Although Mark evans might be in book 6&7 Because you are all right she probably didn't mention him for nothing but I don't think he is the HBP. I am also going to correct myself from earlier and say that it is not ron because in book 2 when Harry and ron take the polyjuice potion and talk to malfoy he tells them "You never would know that the weaslys are pure blood from the way they behave" Said by Draco Malfoy.

I think that draco malfoy could be the half-blood prince as there has never actually been any mention of his mother. Yet it could be harry himself as his mother was a 'muggle' but i guess that would be too obvious.

I'd like to think that's it Seamus Finnigan. In the first book and in the first film, the screenplay writers and Rowling went to the trouble of explaining (and filming) Seamus saying that he was half and half. "Dad's a muggle, Mam's a witch. Bit of a nasty shock for him when he found out." But, I'm also of the opinion that it could be a new character.

Oh, and Malfoy's a pure blood. Remember in OOTP, Narcissa is his mother and she's related to Sirius. (Yes I have too much on my hands)

I think it is Colin Creevy. Everyone forgets about him even though he was in Chamber a lot. I mean you know he his at least muggle born because he said his father "is a milkman" but nothing is said about his mother. I think Colin will be the Half Blood Prince...

I dont think itcould be mark evans. if harry had other relatives that are wizards dumbledore would have sent harry to them instaed of the dursleys

I do believe the half blood prince may be draco malfoy. it seems appropriate to bring him in to the story further as he continues to taunt halfbloods and become harrys school rival. J.K. Rowling says that at one point she was considering naming book 2 HP HBP but she realized it would be more suitable for the information hinted by the title to be revealed at a later time. also, i havent researched the books to find any info pertaining to malfoys mother, if she is mentioned at all. i guess i just thought the title would be fitting to malfoy to bring hime to eceryone elses level, and away from to "princely" perch he continues to sit on. of course, this is jsut an idea, and i hope to hear others like it.

Although I like the Hagrid and Mark Evans theory, I don't agree with them. I don't think it's Dumbledore either. It's certainly not Harry or Voldy(she said so). Other half bloods are Neville and Seamus that are Harry's Age. But she said that she initially wanted to name Chamber of Secrets the Half Blood Prince. I think the character would HAVE to have been introduced in that part of the series. So, I think it could only be one person. Harry, Ron, and Hermione also meet this person again in Order of the Pheonix. That means she's keeping him around for something later. And that person is none other than Gilderoy Lockhart.

I am stunned at the amount of answers to this. Three starts all round everyone!! I am now also going to re-read CoS to see if i can pick up on anything with this little extra knowledge we have. I like the colin creevey possibility, and also hagrid but i guess only time will tell. Thanks answerbankers!

I think it is Tom Morvolo Riddle. In CoS Dobby gave cryptic warning to Harry that the danger/plot was not from Voldermort but in end it turned out be Voldermort's past - Riddle. Dobby said that before Riddle became Voldermort he was free to caled by his name. Maybe JKR through Dobby is giving the msg abt Tom Riddle. Also the HBP was to be one of the book 2 title but JKR went for CoS. Which means HBP was the possible title of the Chamber of Secrets, but she went for CoS for her second book. Well if she intended to call CoS as HBP, then there is only one person that could be HBP in CoS � Tom Marvolo Riddle (We exclude Harry). Voldermort had two identities one the half-blood Tom Riddle and other the dark Lord Voldermort. Harry does not have two such identities.
