Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince

Now that JK Rowling has officially named her next book who do you think is the half-blood prince?? I initally thought it could possibly be something to do with Neville Longbottom, but have since remembered that both his parents were wizards therefore he is full blood. Anyone any suggestions as to who it could possibly be??

Chris W. thinks that its Hagrid and im not dissagreeing bt i dont think it is because in the 5 book its talkes quite alot about the giants and never said hagrida mom was the queen. Though Hagrid did play a part in the 2 book bt i doubt its him.

People said alot of clues are in the 2nd book so im reading it over bt i think its Riddle or MAYBE Hagrid bt i doubt it. Ill read it over.

i agree with Griffindor85 i think it is Tom Riddle. Beacuse there are clues in the 2nd HP book so i think when dobby said that Voldemort wasnt doing the horrible things at Hogwarts though it was TOM RIDDLE.

I do not think that Ron is the HBP because if you see back in book 2 I think, Malfoy says that he could not beleive that ron is a pure blood by the way he dresses..and because he is so poor I also don't think tha hagrid is the HBP because the giants maybe not counted as wizards or witches. Although I think maybe Hermione because she is half blood I do not know...!!

I agree with sds it probably has to do with the newdeense against the dark arts teacher.It might also have something to do with Dumboldore but I'm leaning more on the defense against the darks arts teacher. I'm also wondering if it has something to do with Lupin.

Yes!! if you read the CoS book you'll see the problem with Malfoy and Hermione that he says to her that she is a mudblood and then Ron makes the eat slugs enchantment and all that.. I really think is Hermione because the 2nd book is all about mudbloods and Hermione plays a very important role in that book!!

Mark Evans is a totally unimportant character. Rowling admitted to it being an accident on her site.

I have a question: what is the difference between mudbloods and half bloods!! for me it's the same!! or is it that the mud bloods both parents are muggles and the half blood only one parent is mugglle??

Seamus Finnigan says in the first book and movie right when they arrive for the welcoming feast that he is half blood bye saying "My dads a muggle and my moms a witch. Quite a nasty shock for him when he found out." but Neville and Hagrid are also top contenders

I think the half-blood prince is hagrid. it makes alot of sense if you think about it. he has like a heart of gold and he has been around for ages. plus he is half-blood. then again this is only theory.

c'mon do u lot actually read jk's web page she already said Mark Evans is very much a nobody hes just another name like those who are sorted!!!!! We think Dumbledore is the most likely candidate for the HBP @ this stage since we can't ever remember hearin about his family apart from his useless brother! we're with u Flip! If you guys actually payed attention in the 5th book, you'd know that Neville Longbottom's parents were attacked by Lord Voldemort and the Death Eaters and maybe Harry is the famous one by mistake and it should really be Neville Longbottom. So ya, I think It's Neville Longbottom.

okay well im sorry but heres the thing. if JK was originally going to name CoS, HPB then there is no way that the half blood prince can be anyone besides Tom Riddle. yes justin would be a good candidate as would hagrid as would a series of other characters but the truth of the matter is that none of the characters that have been suggested as possible half blood princes play significant enough roles n the 2nd book for it to be named after them besides Tom Riddle. am i wrong? i have carefully considered the different options that have been posted here and have come to the conclusion that there is no other possible half blood prince. however, if the content of CoS was altered at the same time that the title was changed then any number of characters, known and unknown are good possibilities as the half blood prince. what do you think?

In Ms. Rowling's official website she stated that the name Mark Evans was a mistake. He was just a character she used to show the cruelness of Dudley's gang and she accidently gave him the same surname as Lily. She wrote that she uses so many common names (other examples include Thomas and Brown) that she simply forgot she used this one already.

honestly!!!!!! mundungus fletcher was mentioned in CoS and then became big in OP. sooooooo i think we will find out more about him and that he is the HBP.
