Now that JK Rowling has officially named her next book who do you think is the half-blood prince?? I initally thought it could possibly be something to do with Neville Longbottom, but have since remembered that both his parents were wizards therefore he is full blood. Anyone any suggestions as to who it could possibly be??

ok, two things- first- yes the fifth book mentions mark evans, however he may or may not be related to harry.... there's probably a LOT of people with the last name evans.... second- maybe half blood is referring to the persons relation to the heirs of slytherin and gryffindor
if you've read the passage from the sixth book in the JK rowling website then yoiu'll know what i'm talking about, the describe someone lokking like a lion....godric gryffindor? could he be the half blood prince? he might not be the half blood prince, but i think it most deffinately is hagrid. half giant. half human. in other words half muggle.half magical creature. it counts doesn't it? think about these two questions, and tell me what what you think. 1. Why did harry live after voldemort cursed him? 2.why didn't Dumbledore finish voldemort off in the Order of the Pheonix? (he must know something)
Harry lived cause of some "old magic" that activated when Voldemort tried to kill him, his mother sacrifaced her life for Harry to live, so the cursed backfired, Harry lives on blah, blah, blah, we already know that. The Second question Dumbledore couldn't have finished off Voldemort because he disasperated after Fwakes swallowed Voldemorts curse, luckily Phoenixes are seemingly not affected by the curse, I'm guessing Dumbledore was caught off guard by that, and then Voldemort disasperated with Bellatrix. Then after he's gone he posses Harry, Dumbledore could have finished off Voldemort right there since Harry and him are some how connected, but if he did kill Voldemort then he would have killed Harry in the process.
We already know why Harry lived when Voldemort cursed him, because his mother sacrifaced herself to let harry live, making Voldemort unable to do anything To harry until he was reborn with Harry's blood. And Dumbledore couldn't have finished off Voldemort in the OotP because he disasperated too fast and then posssed Harry, Dumbledore COULD have finished off Voldemort but would killed Harry in the process.
I remember what J.K. Rowling said about the Half Blood Prince in his website. She said that it was neither Harry nor Voldemort. But it is possible that it is EITHER Harry AND Voldemort. If it is true that the HBP as already been introduced in the Chamber of secrets, I remember how JKR insist on the similarities between Harry and Tom Riddle in the Chamber.
Hasn't anyone thought about the posibility of somebody being HALF ROYAL BLOOD, and not half muggle half wicht/wizard. But my guess would be Neville, Seamus, or Justin.
Also Iwould like everyone to stop talking about Voldemort,Harry, girls, and stupid stuff like Dobby. I really think it's all about being decendant of ROYALTY, being half ROYAL half witch/wizard.
I know that Draco Malfoy's parents are both wizards so he's full blood, but maybe there's more to it than that or maybe there's some secret concerning his birth. J.K. Rowling hinted in that interview I read online, that the half-blood prince, whoever he is, is one of the contenders in the chamber of secrets. So, since it's not Tom Riddle a.k.a. Voldemort and not Harry either, there was one person there whom they thought of to be the heir of slytherin, and it was draco malfoy, right? I don't know, maybe this idea is just too farfetched, but... well... it just, sort of, made sense to me.
i knew the answer to my question i just asked because JK rowling said that would help us in getting farther along, than other questions Pple are asking
I believe if the "Prince"is mentioned in any of the 1st 5 books it would be in book when when seamus stated that he was halfblood. His mum is a witch and his dad a muggle. We know that it isn't a girl or it would be a princess not prince.
In the chamber of secrets we find out that tom riddle is the last Descendent of Salyzar Slytherin. Also Dumbledore, when he tells harry to look at the sword engraved "Godric Griffindor", says "IT would take a true griffindor to pull that out of the hat." so what if Harry is a descendent of Godric Gryffindor. No one knows what happened between Slytherin and Griffindor, was it that Godric Gryffindor was a mudblood and thats why Slytherin hated him (we all now slytherin wanted only pure bloods)?. But if Harry IS the descendent of Gryffindor on his mothers side, and Mark Evans is some how related to the Evans family, and Gryffindor wasnt a pure blood that makes Either mark evans or Harry Potter the last Descendent of gryffindorand so if gryffindor was half blood that makes one of them the half blood prince. coincidence? i dont think so. I could be talkin a load of nonsense but if u think about it it all makes sense.
i do not know who it could be but the rumours about mark evans (book 5) chapter 1/2 are false as JKR spquashed them in a post on her fansite
also the half blood prince is neither harry or voldemort (it could be a new charecter or someone who has had a passing reference in previous books like sirius black mentioned in chapter 1, book 1)
Can someone PLEASE TELL ME WHO MARK EVANS IS AND WHAT DOES JKR SAY ABOUT HIM IN BOOK 5. PLEEEEEEEEASSEEEEEEEEE IM SOOOO CURIOUS.
Mark evans is..nobody. he were mentioned by an accident in book five, he's the kid that dudleys gang beated up. and from my opinion Half blood prince must be Dumbledore or Tom Riddle. Dumbledore would be like prince to half bloods which will be hunted in books 6 and 7 but Dumbledore doesnt play so big role in book 2 which were originally named the half blood prince. Tom Riddle plays bigger role in book 2 than any other unknown character so it could be him NOTE: Tom Riddle is not Voldemort, Tom became voldemort after he lost his mind :S and he is half blooded and he might be half-blood slytherin.
hagrid, why else would have Tom Riddle have picked on him, out of all the people, why did he choose to pick on hagrid being responsible for opening the chamber of secrets. hagrid is half muggle, and half giant,....was his mother royalty?
nevermind she isn't
What about Snape? I know he was in Slytherin, but still. Dumbledore trusts him, but maybe he will stab him in the back..
I have not yet read through all the answers, but I disagree with Mark Evans. JK Rowling says that there if foreshadowing for the HBP inside the CoS. The only conclusion one could gather from that is that a character that was involved in CoS must be the HBP. I agree with some that I have read that Seamus or Gilderoy Lockhart could be the HBP. JK Rowlings may also trick everyone by making Tom Marvolo Riddle the HBP also since he is indeed the heir of Slytherin (Original Dark Lord?) Let me know what you think
I just read on her site that its definitely NOT Voldemort. I now think the descendant might be a descendant of Godric Gryffindor and that he was the original Prince/Lord. Prince/Lord/Kings usually have places named after them and Harry's parents lived in Godric's Hollow. I don't think it would be a newly introduced person because its too close to the end to introduce someone else of high importance. Does anyone have theories about why JK Rowlings won't answer the question about what would have happened to Voldemort if Ginny had died in CoS or why JK Rowlings won't answer the question about the two way mirror that Harry broke at the end of Phoenix? Let me know. Thanks
