Now that JK Rowling has officially named her next book who do you think is the half-blood prince?? I initally thought it could possibly be something to do with Neville Longbottom, but have since remembered that both his parents were wizards therefore he is full blood. Anyone any suggestions as to who it could possibly be??

Hello all u british ppl my name is Jojo and i am a singer.

I LOVE the HP books

That response is pretty deep Ponderer; but quite brill.  I think you put into words one of the many great leasons of this ongoing story that give the series awesome fundamental quality.  The choices we make (good or bad) have repercussions that can last a long time and affect many who are unknowing.  That is why I enjoy the character of Neville Longbottom so much.  He is still going on regardless of what life has dealt him; perserverence.  I have come to agree with many that G. Gryffindor is the HBP and is related to Harry.  As for Felix Felicius, I feel he is a new character, similar to Dobby in CoS, who will provide a catalyst that drives new questions and leads to answers in Harry's life.

chamber of secrets: Remember Colin whatshisname Creavy?  Why was he really so obsessed with Harry?

For the record, I too think that Ponderer's theory is awesome.  You're making me go back and read CosS all over again ( i mean for te 4th time, lol) just to analyze it a bit more.  Thanks for your theory.  British people are Brilliant!  ( i know you love my alliteration there) Peace
I liked all the theories I read, but I still think the HPB will be somebody we don't know or somebody we will never think of. And I think Felix Felicius or something like that is a spell, I don't think it's a person.
And did I allready mentioned that I think only the CLUE can be find in CoS? I think I did... :-)
Hey everyone! magic one has mentioned  3 times already that only the CLUE is mentioned in CoS!!!!!!!!!!!!  Just in case you haven't heard :)
JKR has pointed out that a clue can be found. Its what harry SEES in the Chamber, or going into it, or the entrance (the girls bathroom). She also said the mirror that sirius gave harry plays a big role in the HBP, did anyone found anything weird or somewhat suspicious about the mirrors in the girls bathroom?
Panda..elaborate.  What is your theory?  Sounds interesting
j05, thanks for mentioned it ;-)
and i like the mirror theory, good thinking!!

I think we should NOT be concerned (at the present time anyway) about WHO the H.B prince is but rather, WHY is he included? What is his significance? J.K Rolwing has extended the H.P series and introduced us to a new character but how does this effect Harry? (and his ever present connection to the Dark Lord, Voldemort?) In my opinion, the half-blood prince might indeed prove a significant link to Harry's mysterious past and how he has turned out to be what he has become.

Consider all the unanswered questions you can think of after finishing the 'Order of the Pheonix' and ask yourself how a half-blood prince could possibly provide those answers...such as why didnt Voldemort die upon impact of his own powers... and lets not forget in the very first book, the Sorting Hat was ever so tempted in putting Harry into the Slytherin house... this may have been an early clue to Harrys magical background and the history of Voldemorts attacks.

Perhaps, unknowingly to the boy himself, Harry does belong in Slytherin but pleaded with the Sorting Hat to let him be in Gryffindor as he feels that not only do all of his friends belong there, but he is discouraged to be placed there when he sees that Draco Malfoy is one of its prominent members... headed by Snape.

Maybe Harry belongs in Slytherin?? Lets remember:

*Harry speaks Parseltongue

*Snape has it in for Harry - there has to be more then meets the eye

* Voldemort was defeated by Harry.... twice..

* The Sorting Hat says to Harry; "You could be great yknow, its all here in your head, and Slytherin will help you on the way to greatness"

* We, as the reader, are revealed that James Potter, in his days at Hogworts, was quite nasty - especially to Snape...maybe the Potter family isnt so virtuous and thats why Voldemort was keen on trying to convert the family to the dark side.

But, considering the role of the half-blood prince, maybe Harry realises this? Maybe he is converted with the help of the HBP? Maybe the "Prince" is a decendant of "Lord" Voldemort??? Again, none of us are too sure but I hope that the points Ive raises have furthered your thinking... In my opinion, the 6th book seems that it may be darker than the rest...
Im thinking that Harry might use the mirror that sirius gave him to contact with other mirrors, like how the fireplaces work. im thinking it doesnt have to be an enchanted mirror because if it does work the same way as the Fireplace Communications then it woud work with muggles mirror. I think that harry will be able to see through the girl bathroom mirror and others to find out who the HBP is, or other information.
I just went to the warner bros. homepage, and there you can go into the shrieking shack and in it too is a mirror. I dont know if this will be of any importence because it is broken. But there is still a large piece of it in it. Perhaps they could use it as hideout for someone and then they comunicate through the mirror with him ( Could be the HBP? ).
I subscribe to the Mark Evans theory myself...just because it would be so Rowling-ish to bring in a relative unknown, like she did with Sirius...
JKR has previously dismissed any relation of the Evans character with HP's mum as coincidence. If you haven't reviewed the lists of information, go to the mugglenet.com and on the left side, pick Books 6 & 7 under the heading BOOKS.

Thanks for the tip g-potterfan; will check it out.
