Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince

Now that JK Rowling has officially named her next book who do you think is the half-blood prince?? I initally thought it could possibly be something to do with Neville Longbottom, but have since remembered that both his parents were wizards therefore he is full blood. Anyone any suggestions as to who it could possibly be??

I think that it might be Tom Riddle, because he was introduced in the Chamber of Secrets not as Lord Voldemort. At the start of the 4th book, he was also referred to as 'Tom Riddle'in the story that the maid told the villagers in chapter 1. 'Lord Voldemort' could be a ressurected copycat of Tom Riddle. And does anyone have a theory as to how Voldemort completely faked his death... wait, the REAL Tom Riddle could have been killed by the REAL Lord Voldemort! Maybe Tom Riddle was a name that Lord Voldemort liked, and decided to use as a 'code' name. All the Riddles were really killed, and Tom Riddle was a mudblood, not a half-blood. I don't know who the half-blood prince is, we will just have to wait and see when the book comes out! hi, um sorry plz excuse my friend she gets confused easily just disregard this answer,, well read it if u want a laugh!!

JK has already mentioned that the hbp is not Harry or Voldemort. Me being who i am i believe that all four houses have an heir living right now that we all know of. I believe harry is godric's heir and of course riddle is slytherin's heir so i think there might be a person in a different house who is the heir of there house who is of course half blood

it isnt hagrid....id have thought ud have realized that grawp is his brother and is more giant than hagrid and prolly more liked than hagrid by his mom... jk stated that mark evans was a coincedence it said so on mugglenet but it aint alot of ppl we just need to find out who it is

OK this might sound crazy but I thnk the halfblood prince is Tom Riddle! On her website J.K. Rowling says that there are clues in the second book and I think I may have found them. 1. Tom Riddle's halfblood 2. In the second book Dobby says that people could use Tom Riddle's name freely since he hadn'tbecome Voldemort yet so that means the halfblodd prince wouldn't be Voldemort 3. Tom Riddle was the Heir of Slytherin and isn't a prince and heir to a throne? Plus latter they call Voldemort the Dark Lord 4. Wasn't the Halfblood Prince originaly considered as a title for the second book? If so that means it fits in perfectly with my theory Well the one whole in my theory is Tom Riddles is no more, but who knows JK Rowling is an extremlly clever writer!

clue hunter i agree totally but im just not sure how to look at the title....does it mean that hes ruler of half bloods or that he is a prince thats a halfblood or maybe just the most powerful halfblood ...????im still guessin

while reading star_gra's answer i realized that tom riddle died...it said so in book 4 when they found tom riddle dead in the 1rst chapter

I think that the HBP could not be Tom Riddle... even if he isn't voldemort we know that Harry killed tom in COS and its pretty unlikely that he managed to preserve himself in something as well as his diary. I think Neville is going to play a bigger role in the next book even if he isn't the half blood prince, because we can see him getting more determined and better at spells during DA meetings. I think someone related to Godric Gryffindor is possible, or even Godric himself- JKR might decide to bring the time turner back into the books.

I think its the one boy, maybe Dean? Or something...In the first movie, or maybe the 2nd..he said "me moms a witch, dad's a muggle". I think its either him or Semus.

OK We all no that the Half Blood Prince is not Harry nor is it Voldermort. And I think that everyone can agree with me that Tom riddle won't come back. Tom Riddle was only a memory saved in that diary and that was destroied in CoS. There is no way that they could ressurect Tom. Plus... If JKR considered Voldermort and Riddle to be 2 different people, how come when U rearrange Tom Morvolo Riddle,.... it turn into - I am Lord Voldermort. She has to consider them 1 in the same person. Therefore I am ruling out Tom and Voldermort and being the HBP. Mark Evans is a nobody... Neville is a Fullblood and alone with Malfoy since his mother is Sirius's cousin. I think that the HBP will be someone NEW, Dean Thomas, Seamus, or Justin Fitch- thingy. If it is a character that we already no it will be someone of no importance up to this point.

To me it is Just the fact that there is no proof that we have gotton so far that the Half blood prince Was really in the 2nd year book. JK simply stated that the title was originally for the second book. But I just can't see JKR bringing back Tom Riddle. I mean if they can bring back Tom Riddle, how come the can't bring Cedric.

Maybe the Half Blood Prince doesn't refer to a person who is a half blood. maybe it is talking about a person who rules half bloods. in that case it could be anyone...

OK what I think is that Well they have introduced new characters in every book. CoS- Colin Creevy PoA- Sirius Black, Cho Chang GoF- Viktor Krum, Fleur Delocor, and many more. OotP- Kingsley, Prof. Umbridge, Tonks, and Plenty more. I am thinking that she may introduce a new character. Maybe the Clue that we were suppose to get from CoS is the fact that she has added new characters each and every year at Hogwarts. I just can't see her all of a suddenly saying Dean Thomas is the Half Blood Prince. I mean something like this would be known by all at Hogwarts... So I think that a new character will be introduced. Or Harry's Hormones will kick into overdrive and he will have a Kid that will become the Prince because he is the King. *LOL I don't really think that last one will be true because I don't think that JK would really put that in her line of Books

If muggles are to be involved in the final conflict, the the half-blood Prince may be a muggle prince that hasn't discovered that he has magic in his veins, or a decision was made that he would NOT attend Hogwart's due to national interests in his own country.

I think that if the HBP is a new character then it might be a person who is in the order of the phoenix but we haven't met him yet. Also, just because new characters have been introdeced every year doesn't mean that the HBP will be new. . . We know it wouldn't be anyone in slytherin, because they're all pure blood, and it just seems more likely that the person will be in gryffindor if it is a student
