What's the conventional term used to say "I've cropped the image of this painting, but only slightly"?

Here's an example:

1) The Mona Lisa

2) The Mona Lisa (detail)

3) ...but how do I describe this kind of cut?

I can think of ways to say it, but my question is What would be the conventional term used in the art world. How would they phrase it in a catalogue from an exhibition.

Thanks!

Dare I say I'm off to watch the footie now !!
Well, I am a bit miffed with all the sympathy from you lot! Am just too weak from lack of food to retaliate <<sits quietly in corner of town square waiting for Red Cross donkeys to arrive!>>
I almost believed neti's claim that she was too weak to leave the house... until I found she's actually gone mud-wrestling over in CB

Hunger makes us do strange things jno
Oh dear poor Neti Where's your wartime spirit ?

You'll have to start growing your own or something and cutting up newspapers for the smallest room ..
In the meantime here's a cyber Hamper for you to drool over xx
That's lovely thank you shaney. Iwas looking for my wartime spirit, but we don't have tube trains so am at a loss!

I grew a lettuce once and when it was 1" high a slug devoured it in the night so never again have I attempted gardening!

Goodness! When the Cat's away...! (I had about a zillion biddy thread emails in my inbox.) Been a windy day here <hang on - that ain't my line> - I saw a man chase his straw hat down the street, ha ha. Still hot and humid in spite of the wind, everybody's windows are open again and I've heard some totally mad GOOOOOOAAAAAAL!!!!!!!!!!! screaming so I know it's Sweden playing.

You sound really happy jno, I'm pleased for you. <Those pay cheques must have been reeeaaal fat, if they're that eager to get rid of her...?>

Poor Neti, I was gonna Paint you into Scarlett O'Hara (as God is my witness I'll never go hungry again) but the reality of it all caught up with me. Is there a real danger of people not getting water even to drink do you think or will the authorities step in. Sounds horrible.

Nice chairs Jude, and I like your wallpaper VERY much.

Oh, Sweden won... yay...
they were very fat, Kit, hence the gold and diamonds I usually wear (okay, only in my teeth).

Incidentally, somewhere top right on your own questions is a 'Got an Answer?' panel. If you tick it you won't get any more emails - people can keep adding to the thread, you just won't get the notification.

Yes, I am very happy. I used to love the job but it's got stressful since the last reorganisation, with everyone supposed to pitch into all sort of different jobs and a real... lady dog of a boss who peers over your shoulder to make sure you're working. I could boost my pension a few thou by staying another couple of years but frankly I'd rather not. A light is starting to appear at the end of the tunnel.... I hope I'm not jinxing it by talking about it...

Oh thanks jno, I hadn't noticed that option - although in a way it is kinda handy to get the alerts. Hm. We'll see, I'll consider turning y'all off!

I've given up my feeble attempts at getting that ceiling rose (see, Neti, I remember your word) to stay in place, decided to get a SnapAlarm smoke detector instead... Show it to your design guru son, jno, it's a Swedish invention and they won the Red Dot Design Award. You just snap it onto the cord, it's brilliant. They come in black as well. (And they warn if there's a fire...!)

Jinx it, jno, nah, why would you jinx it, you're only calling your boss a b on the world wide web - surely she won't mind ;-)
hellooo....yep, Kit I agree about the alerts...it's always best to be forewarned about this crew & the need to know whether to wear a tiara or not.

by heck that's a nifty gadget...I've found a place for mine
I'll be the first to know if I spontaneously combust

I rather like Jude's wallpaper too ....
and so did my grandmonsters...

ROTFLMAO at Robinia's SnapCap... please... I can't breathe...
Have just had the most horrific thunderstorm with hail. Pool is overflowing and the crashing was horrible. I unplugged everything in the house. Calming down now. I was so frightened.
No too many killed or rendered homeless, I hope, neti... I've contacted the UN disaster relief secretariat on your behalf
Well honestly it's getting to be a disaster zone right now, with all the strikes and weather, anyway Mr N is home now so all's right with the world, I don't mind storms when he's home.
Hello All . Hope the storm has passed now Neti and you're getting some sunshine in more ways than one.

Thanks for the compliments on my wall paper and chairs Kit Robi and Jno. It took me a while to spot the grandkids painting, think I must get me eyes tested. I'm a white walled person - all my rooms are white with different designs on. All except my spare bedroom which has 2 walls white and 2 walls lilac painted. Still it wouldn't do for us all to be the same would it.

It's a bit dull over here, no rain as yet but I think it has rained in the night. What do you reckon Robi

Not got much to report, haven't been out since last Friday when I went to my local for a bit of a rock. Seeing Tbag at the weekend hope the weather is better so we can get out and about.

I'm off now to do my lunch then looking forward to some footie later. (Isn't she sad I can hear some of you saying)
Are you watching it Vinny I would like to see Holland win. Who's your money on?

See yer later :o)

a'noon...oh dear is everyone retired or expired except for you Jude? haha...those little squares were just asking to be coloured in

ooh, sounds rough there neti, I hope it's calmer for you today. Not chopping up your closet to make a raft are you? I quite like hearing a storm but just so long as it's safely in the distance. I'll blame your weather for the migraine I ended up with yesterday.

Kit!....you can breathe now....

Morning all - too numerous to mention individually! Lovely sunny day here, although still very hungry (not really) although the price of everything has doubled in 3 days. Marm is arriving today with a suitcase of sandwiches!!

Am off to meet daughter and new boyfriend who arrived last night, but luggage went to Minorca and they should get that today!

Be back later hopefully! x
Ha ha ha! Little does she know, the sandwiches are all for me!!
ah, all Marmiteset, are they?
