I'm thinking about buying them but i'm not too sure on how good they are on long thick hair. My hair is a bit over half way down my back and is quite thick. Any personal experience or thoughts will be greatly appreciated :)

I haven't used these, so can't give any kind of review.
However, I have tried tons of heated rollers, and never really got on with any of them. My hair is also long and thick.
If it's rollers you want, I can honestly say that I've always had great results using large velcro rollers... the bigger the better!
Set them in the morning and just leave them in all day until you're ready to do your hair.

I have always used tongs to curl my hair but it takes too much time due to the thickness.
I don't know about velcro rollers. My mum put them in my hair for a fancy dress when I was wee and they really hurt taking them out. It could have just been that she's not very gentle but it kinda put me off lol. I think we still have them so i'll give them a go before I decide to buy heated ones. Just have to hunt them out first! lol

Thanks :) x
^ if you're going to leave them in all day at least put a scarf over a la Hilda Ogden :-)
Seriously I didn't know you get these still. I used to use them on my long hair in the 90s but it wouldn't last very long without hairspay especially if it was damp or windy.

LOL Prudie.. I would be a lovely sight am sure haha..

I think i'm gonna have to think longer about these.. I need to start spending my pennies wisely :|

Lol Prudie :)
However, the lady makes a good point erin. Do put something over your head to protect your hair and keep the rollers from falling out. A scarf would be quite chic, I think :-) Or, you could be like a "celeb" and pop to Tesco with them in. lol.
I usually put a bit of something in my hair before I put the rollers in, like serum or mousse. When it comes to taking them out, just gently un-roll them.
If they're too "big", separate them with your fingers and then spritz with a holding spray.
Remember though, bigger the better!
As an aside I used to wear the pink sponge ones with the clips every night when I was about 15. It wasn't until lunchtime at school one day that one of the biatches finally told me I'd left one in at the back. Oh the shame.
Hahaha! Oh that's funny Prudie. Poor you!

Oh no Prudie! It's horrible when something like that happens. I once went to school with a pj top on.. good job it wasn't summer cos I kept my jumper on all day haha.

Thanks guys.. i'll try the velcro ones first. I'm sure my mum has got mousse so i'll use that. :) x
Excellent! If you can get it right (It took me a fair few practice runs!) it'll save you some cash. Just don't use too much mousse/hairspray, or you'll end up looking like Vanessa from Eastenders! lol.
Question Author
How do you know that's not the look I was going for?? ;) LOL!
Haha! Then what the hell, use a whole bottle of mousse and the strongest hold hairspray you can find! lol
You're a female!! so that is not a pic of you then?
Question Author
No! haha... That's Dave Grohl! I'm a bit in love with him at the moment lol :) x
What?!! Dave... is that not you?
I thought I was advising Dave on which heated rollers to use on his lovely, long locks. Gutted. *sighs*

I too am a little bit (massively!) in love with him. Infact, I only hung around on this thread for so long so I could look at his lovely face ;-)
Question Author
Haha! He is so lovely isn't he :) I bet he wouldn't mind some heated rollers mind you.. the things he has dressed up as in the past! lol
When removing rollers start at the nape of the neck & work up the head, less chance of getting your hair tangled.
I just had to google Dave Grohl, never heard of him, you couldnt have found a more unflattering picture if you tried, he really looks retarded, lots of pictures of him looking normal!!
RATTER! How could you! lol.
When I was in my teens I had very long hair. I used to do a fair bit of modeling at that time. The top hairdressers who were at the shoots often used to spray my nearly dry hair with hair spray and then roll it up in empty toilet rolls, before drying it with a hair dryer and styling it. They were able to do the most amazing styles with my hair. They also used to rinse it in beer to make it super shiny and give it some hold. Makes me laugh to think of how I looked back then ... it was afterall the 60s!
