Thought I would try one of those foam hair dyes....

Good job I'm not too fussy about hair colour ( I've been everything from blonde to almost black over the years) or I would be quietly sobbing into my glass of red right now.
The packet said medium golden brown and despite following the instructions to the letter, my hair is now very very dark brown with a reddish tint!
Anyone else used one of these and found that it over develops?

I always find they are much darker than they claim to be - I'm not usually too bothered cos I've been every colour of the rainbow (including green and also bright pinky orange - the day before my wedding- and neither was deliberate), but I often forget when buying a new shade and it does annoy me a bit.

Never been green Karen, probably a bit old for that now! I have had the odd disaster with normal colourants, but that was years ago.
Was surprised that the foam turned out so much darker as it felt and smelled like quite a mild product.
Oh well, the grey has gone!

I used one of those a fortnight ago 'light ash brown' is the darkest brunette I have ever been,

I don't use any colour now(i'm white haired) but in the past i've used light ash blonde,and ended up dark!

You are lucky if you are completely white haired Catgirl, can only wish that I go like eventually rather than grey!

No am still very dark but it did cover well, will have to do another if am to look the part at Grandson's christening in 2 weeks time.

My Gran went snow white, could live with that but salt 'n pepper can look dismal.

Not at all Mamy - my Granny is nearly 85 and she's salt and pepper. I think it makes her look much younger than if she was white.

I wouldn't use a bottle of hair dye again. It largely depends on your natural hair colour so you're unlikely to ever get an exact match from what the bottle shows.

I have sworn off home colours after many disasters or unexpected results. I now only get foils done at the local salon. I am considering going completely blonde next time though and having some sort of pixie crop so I don't have to style it as much.

After many years of re-applying hair dyes that come out all sorts of different shades, I'm now embracing my natural white. It's a Warhol thing.
