I am puzzled - finished my periods some 8-10 years ago, had breast cancer and a mastectomy and had hot flushes - they disappeared after a few months, but, 18 months ago I had to have a hysterectomy and in the last three weeks I have started having flushes again, occasionally, is this normal? Seem to have been a big gap.
Yes perfectly normal and although you haven't yet answered the above two posters questions, I would guess that you are not on hormonal therapy for your breast cancer and leaving the ovaries or removing them at hysterectomy seems not op be relevant.
The hot flushes and flashes are a mystery to the experts.
Ojread2 - I've been lucky, I've not had any sweats at all - not had any flushes for a few years and now they have returned !! My best friend had sweats and flushes after a hysterectomy when she was 44 and went on for years - they had left her ovaries.
Mine subsided to a great degree but are back now with a vengeance. I have recently had a lot of sadness and stress in my life and put the flushes down to that, along with the telogen effluvium (hair loss).
