I have been having accupuncture weekly for a couple of months now, and I do not see any difference in my health issues, I was told they thought they could help me. I feel ready to give up.

More recently I have been having treatment over the past six years on and off for various minor aches and pains, and to promote general well being and mental calm, especially through the menopause. It works for me, although the results don't always become apparent immediately. I notice when I haven't been for a while, and feel better for going
I have a very good relationship with my acupuncturist and if she does something I don't understand or is new, I ask and she explains. I do usually feel an initial sensation with the needles, sometimes left in for several minutes, and sometimes inserted only briefly. If there is no sensation I say so, and she makes a small adjustment.
Gness I agree that the relationship with the practitioner is important, and I would not expect acupuncture to be able to cure an acute medical condition, such as kidney disease, for example. I do find it very effective in dealing with things like skin conditions which can be aggravated by stress and in complementing conventional treatments for pain. (probably why it may be referred to as complementary medicine!)
Mine was on the NHS via a physiotherapist. My friend pays for hers privately via a specialised clinic for her health condition. As I say the first person really helped, it felt like it was working when she put the needles in (placebo or not) the second person seemed less confident in the job and choose a different approach. If it was a placebo effect I wish to have it every day for the rest of my life because the pain is sometimes unbearable!
