Been feeling crap for ages and just found out my Vit d is very low. If you have suffered the same, what was your experience? What was your treatment and how long before you stared to feel better?
Had blood tests done because I feel like I've constantly got a hangover, fuzzy cloudy head, headache, tired, no energy, muscle aches, can't concentrate.
that's ricketts isn't it? I hears it's on hte increase because of people using suncreen and people's poor diets. The hv was always going on about it to me when i was pregnant and Breast feeding
Yes, rickets is related to severe vit d deficiency. Thing is, I hate suncream so hardly ever wear it, but do like being out in the sun. I also eat a good amount of oily fish which is a good source, so I'm surprised at this news.
It was in the news a while back that most people in the UK are vit D deficient. Our weather is partly to blame,as a nice daily dose of sun would keep a person "topped up"... and we don't get enough sun here. The body needs sunlight to make vit D.

and so would I be.
Are you fat?....if not, I would ask your GP to repeat the blood tests, but if you are, then that may well be the answer to your VitD deficiency.
A (skinny) friend of mine was diagnosed with low vitamin D a while ago. I think she had treatment for it. She`s a veggie (don`t know if that has anything to do with it). I`m seeing her on Sunday so I`ll ask her about it if you like.
237...there has been quite a debate about Vit D and the vegetarian diet, but the "jury" seems to feel that a vegetarian diet does have enough Vit D, not to cause a clinical deficiency.
Was told the same about two months ago, being borderline I was told to get some cod liver oil tablets and take one each day. Was surprised to be told as I also like the sun very much and eat a balanced diet, plus the test was taken about a week after I had a sunny holiday in Madeira. As far as I can remember no actual symptons, am Diabetic type two though. Hope you feel much better soon.
mandimoo.....not my area of expertise, but i cannot think of any relevent reason to connect APLS to a low blood VitD level.........although i stand to be corrected.
Your excess weight may well prove to offer an answer.
I had to pester my GP for ages to be tested for D deficiency. I have PCOS and a friend read an article which said 1 in 3 women with PCOS will also be Vitamin D Deficient. It turned out I was and was put on 60,000 units per week for 10 weeks, so guess it must have been pretty low. I can't say I feel any better for it, still feeling very lethargic and have to go to sleep for a few hours in the afternoon.
