a lot of ignorant scientist types are now claiming that we use all of our brain which is causing great discomfort in my head.
Firstly if I say I only use 10% of my brain is correct. I consciously controls parts of my body which is probably 10 % of the functions happening within the body. I personally dont use the other parts of my brain for breathing that is done automatically.

If I used all of my brain I could control cell replication having eternal life. The limitations are rather out stretched.

To be honest like anything there must be a way to hack into parts of the brains that cant be controlled.

So what could we achieve when we hack the brain?

Eternal life and....

Why do you think these 'ignorant scientist types' know less than you about how much of your brain is in use at any one time?
Uk, all of the brain is in use by the body, including stuff like breathing and heartbeat. The 10% figure is best estimate of what our conscious mind uses. In your case, maybe part of the remainder is being used to create and maintain the universe? be careful if you try to divert that bit to use consciously, you might end everything!

UK, did you actually discuss your beliefs with your GP?

divebuddy for best answer!
spathy - // The best way to answer this question is for you to watch the film 'Lucy' featuring Scarlett Johansson. //

Really?

I've watched it, and that's time I'll never get back. I found it about as informative as it was entertaining - not at all!
The explanation:

It seems that the Brains of older people are slow because they know so much...

People do not decline mentally with age, it just takes them longer to recall facts because they have more information in their brains, scientists believe. Much like a computer struggles as the hard drive gets full up, so do humans take longer to access information, it has been suggested.

Researchers say this slowing down it is not the same as cognitive decline.

The human brain works slower in old age, said Dr. Michael Ramscar, but only because we have stored more information over time .

The brains of older people do not get weak. On the contrary, they simply know more.

As you will be aware, older people often go to another room to get something and when they get there, they stand there wondering what they came for. This is NOT a memory problem, it is nature's way of making older people do more exercise.

how much of your brain is in use at any one time?
For a start they don't even understand or really try to conciousness and a MRI scan looking for activity in the brain is not really conclusive evidence considering DNA does not code opinions or instinct (the list goes on). There has to be another dimensional input that acts with the physical aspects which we know and which we are so ignorant to limit our selves to.

The brain is a beacon for something. Maybe reality is a bleak thing to understand. I am pretty sure it is but I for one want the answer to expand what I find.

Plus like I said I don't use any of my brain apart from the parts that I use voluntarily. If I used all of my brain the possibilities would be endless. For a start I would have nicer skin.

Lucy is a film. It's not meant to be Scientifically accurate, it's meant to entertain. If people are genuinely taking its claims seriously I'm amazed.

so you don't breathe, have emotions, become sexually aroused, taste things and react to them, ditto hear, see, smell, feel? You don't dream, find things funny or frightening? remember things unbidden? recover your balance when you stumble?

All functions of the part of the brain we don't use for being "us"
jim, why amazed? There is much silliness in the world and having a brain doesn't imply using it!

I will download it later thanks. Just watched the trailer it looks like the kind of thing I could switch off and watch with a nice glass of ice chilled soja milk.

Call it naivety for being an "ignorant scientist type", perhaps!
lol. I don't mind discussing and giving space to other people's concept of reality but when the logic fails it just gets dull.

I mean Soya.
We use 100% of our brain. It is just that only 10% or so is under our conscious control. The other 90% controls functions like breathing, temperature regulation, hunger, thirst, and many others which we are not aware of.
