Swelling And Dvt

I have been diagnosed with a DVT following knee surgery, I am injecting myself daily with blood thinners and I was wondering if anyone out there can tell me how long before the swelling should start to go down, calf and ankle still very swollen. I was diagnosed on Monday. Thank you in advance.

Well, glad that you were diagnosed early and that you are on the recommended therapy. As to your question, it varies from person to person and depending upon your mobility which is clearly limited. Don't be surprised if the swelling takes a couple of weeks to settle, maybe even longer. The swelling is not necessarily the important factor, the relief of pain in...

Don't be surprised if the swelling takes a couple of weeks to settle, maybe even longer. The swelling is not necessarily the important factor, the relief of pain in your calf is the best guide.
