Steam Room! Sauna dries my skin!
Neither of them actually do anything
I couldn't bear either of them. I'd faint.
At our last house we had a sauna to seat about 8 people, we never used it once. I don't think I would use a steam room either.
Steam room every time. The new thing is a cryogenic room tho! This is me just coming out of ours:

No thanks Zacs!
That looks like torture.

I still can't decide between sauna and steam room at our leisure centre. I would choose which ever has less people in, but I can't see in.
What is the difference between a sauna and a steam room?
What a big boy you are zac :-)
Don't like saunas, the lack of moisture is nasty for the sinuses and throat.
Never tried a steam room, that sounds more friendly to the human body tho.
Oh sob. What I would give for a bit of both right now. :(

Followed by a Jacuzzi.
sqad a steam room is very hot, a sauna is &^*%ing hot! I last about 30 seconds in the former and about 3 seconds in the latter! Last time I went in a sauna I quickly came out and hugged a cold tile floor for about 10 minutes, nearly passed out and they tell me that they get a lot hotter than that. That cryo thing looks interesting and does seem to have a good effect. I know from my rugby days of the effect of the ice bath etc so the theory at least seems plausible though with liquid nitrogen I'd be worried about instant frost bite.
TTT.....thanks.

I saw an investigation into the effect of ice baths. For elite sportsmen it seems it makes a very slight difference, but in top sport a slight difference can be the margin between winning and losing. For amateurs it is pointless so I won't be going near it.
The basic difference is a sauna is very hot but very dry - like sitting right in front of a coal fire. A steamroom is heated via steam so it's very moist, much better in my opinion for the skin.

Sometimes I have noticed a mild menthol odour in the steam room, great for the nasal tubes.
clearing of the nasal tubes is handy for smelling when the cauli cheese is ready to get dished up.

You offering, Alba?
the way to a man's heart is to serve up a large plate of cauliflower cheese :-D
