I have received a letter informing me as 'more vulnerable' to take additional precautions etc - these will impact on the entire household. However, I am not included in any of the vulnerable lists. I had treatment for breast cancer which was completed last March. I rang GP surgery and receptionist said she didn't know why I had received the letter and that they did not send letters out. I would be very grateful if anyone can help clarify this situation as I don't know who to contact for information as I thought that GPs would have provided names of those at most risk.

Both my partner and myself got text messages saying we must stay at home. We have been in self isolation for a while now, I'm not at any particular risk if I were to catch it, but my partner is due to underlying health conditions, we are not showing any signs of the virus. I have to go to local shop to get basic provisions, but choose my times carefully, early or late, and observe the advised 2 metre separation distance.
I think you might find that the list is just a basic guide, as you have had treatment for cancer it could be seen as more vulnerable / under lying condition, as its only been 12 months since your treatment, even if you now feel ok, and hope you do !! avoid outings as much as possible like others.
I have received a letter which had the NHS logo, but it came from my GP's surgery.
Could it be because of your age? Over 70 perhaps?
no GPs arent allowed to without your permission

I told Occy Health they had given my name to the MD for not having had Hep B vacc - he had written to me saying he would proceed against me - and my god occy health ran around pronto finding out and proving they hadnt .... MD gpt a slapping for treating a public health measure as grounds for disciplinary proceedings
( I was in Hospital with cancer) - he had said ;I dont care where you were;

and so ..... probably from the NHS spine - central records shared between the hospital treating you and the GP.

and so you can if you want - letter from doo-dah
and not - asked the GP and he said no

so you have a free pass on this one - dont be glum
I sure it was pointed out by the health minister way back that anyone that is listed for a flu jab, is considered vulnerable, more so if you have on going, or past health problem.
for my cancer - blood cancer - Christie said
you are free from disease ( as far as we can see)
but remember that you are immunosuppressed for the rest of your life.

in the bad old days - when my bone marrow ws wiped out they were threatening a bone marrow transplant - my frenz said - lets all go to Egypt - it looks like the last time!
and I said yes lets !

it depends on whether you like a life in cotton wool or not
teacake
yes you are right he did
I cant recollect when - anyone worfa flu jab comes into the category
I've not received a letter though I've been getting flu jabs for years.
Absolutely everybody with a mobile phone is getting that text that says you must stay at home - but obviously that doesn't mean those who are exempt. If you have received one it does not mean you've been singled out or your situation reviewed, we've all had it

Could be teacake, Jen always has an annual flu jab, I suppose I should pronto, to get one, but prefer not to have any personal contact at the moment, especially in Gp's surgery.

True, Prudie. I got it too and it begins, 'You must stay at home' but then goes on to suggest visiting uk.gov/coronavirus where there is more detail. Basically the texts are meant for those who don't read the papers or watch the news. Can't use ignorance as an excuse when pulled up by the plod.
Prudie //Absolutely everybody with a mobile phone is getting that text that says you must stay at home//
But those with underlying problems are told to isolate for 12 weeks.
@12.10 you may find that letters are going out to folk who have had under lying, or present health conditions, you don't need a letter when its already been stated that if you are listed for a flu jab, you should take even more care where possible.
@12.15 a flu jab is not going to help this situation, I'm of age for the flue jab and have been for some time, and I've always chosen not to have it.
True Danny that what is says to isolate for 12 weeks, which is what we will do.
it doesn't mean you get a flu jab, teacake, just that anyone who gets them already may be deemed at risk of Covid-19 and therefore they'll get in touch with you.
You've also got to consider that this is a mammoth task to check millions of NHS records and send letters out, there will be some missed I guess, but to be honest I think it is a waste of time when the NHS is under this much pressure, surly with all the cover on tv this should be getting across.
I appreciate that teacake, it's just something I have been putting of.
