I've just hired a treadmill (with a view to getting fit/loosing weight). When is the best time to exercise i.e. after/before breakfast, after/before dinner. I'll be walking (briskly) first of all, working towards running. But as it's a long time since I did any real exercise, I'll be taken it gently, of course. But just wondered when the optimen time to exercise is. TIA x

i find in the morning if your not busy is the best time as it gets you woken up for the day as if you do it a night you cant really sleep as your heart is pumping faster
I don't believe there is a best time - whatever suits you is the best for you!

Be prepared to feel very hungry after exercising - get a few healthy snacks such as fruit in.

Good luck!
Hi,

In terms of weight loss the best time to exercise is first thing in the morning before you have had anything to eat. If you do that you will burn fat as you have not consumed any calories yet that day to burn. However you should not attempt to exercise on an empty stomach at any other time of day as you are more likely then to just collapse!
makemesmile could i ask ,when you say hired a treadmill do you mean to use at home and if so where did you hire from?

Hi fruitsalad - yes I've hired it for use at home, it was just delivered today, and it's the real deal. Just like you'd get in a gym, I'm really pleased with it. I hired it from http://www.hirefitness.co.uk/ . Looks like they only a small area - but I'm sure there's others : )
