The only thing i can suggest is to use mouth wash now and again and get some bonjella!!! Your mouth will get used to it until u need your brace tightening and then you have to get used to it again!! Dont worry though its worth it!! I was suggested a fixed after 2 years with my take out one and i said no, i was 17. I wish now i did cos my teeth have never been really straight and to have perfect teeth is something to be proud of!!
If the brace is rubbin the inside of your mouth you can get some wax from the dentist to put over the metal bits. Don't swallow it though it tastes like crap. The pain in your gums will subside in a few days....until you have to go back for dentist to tighten brace againt, so don't worry that the pain is going ot be constant.
Stick with it-you'll be glad when you have nice teeth at the end of it!

I sympathise! I had plates, tracks and headgear for 4 years! I used to have to plug myself in at night - the headgear would plug into sockets attached to my back molars. And there were elastic bands that hooked the tracks together top and bottom.
Oh, the pain! But I guess my teeth are straighter now. And I had 4 molars taken out around that time so my wisdom teeth have room.
I remember that wax. Good for softening the edges. Leave it on!
I guess where it's rubbing your mouth they will turn into callouses and not hurt as much. Like when I played sax and I would have callouses where my lip rubbed on my bottom teeth. You do get used to it.
Perhaps clove oil will help? It's good for toothache.

My lad has gone through what you are describing , your gums will get better and adjust to the brace, bonjela and tlc is what is needed, he now has to wear his brace with rubber bands ?? what these are for I don't know , the hospital said it was to pull his bite together ... It suprised me , having a brace at school is really fashionable, whatever colour you have , its like street cred?? In a nutshell, a nice smile in years to come will get you into places and situations you might enjoy , look after them !! ;-)
