other way round for me, woofgang/Lottie/ummmm: I turned up at a walk-in centre with pretty purpura; the GP there asked if I was taking aspirin and when I said 'every day', told me to stop at once. This seems to have done the trick, touch wood. But when I reported back to my own GP, he said 'You were taking aspirin every day??' I didn't bother pointing out that he was the idiot who prescribed them to be taken daily.

Moral: sometimes a fresh face, like an emergency doctor, will spot things that a regular, but lazy, GP will not.
yes Lottie if it had been any more of an emergency, I would deffo have done a 999.
as it was, getting the doctor out was a better decision as when he was taken to hospital, he was expected and went straight into a bed and treatment rather than needing to be assessed at A and E and having to wait in the queue

ok thanks folks .

wow i wasnt expecting this amout of replys.but thanks for the info.im really wary of what i take now as im verjing on needing treatment for my ITP if it drops anymore.so dont want to take anything that will make my platletts drop.

after my accident in march the dr gave me meds that made my asthma really bad and made my platlets drop big style .this was after telling him about my ITP.and some dr dont even know what med are safe and what are not safe for me.

thanks again.
Hi again Woofy. In our case calling 999 meant that Mr LL went straight into coronary care unit and the team were there scrubbed up and waiting for him. I suspected a heart attack and I was right. If anybody had even a suspicion of a heart attack, stroke etc. I would phone 999.
What is ITP?
yes Lottie, in those circs me too...

yup, my platelets are down to 63, nothing scary but I have to be watched.

im just fed up with waisting my money on drugs i cant safly take .wish some dr would look at my notes or listen to me or atleast tell me that drugs leflet say this but the drugs will do this IYKWIM
I didn't even know there was a register... but it's being investigated. Apparently they've been in slow decline for years, past blood tests reveal. Still not in anything like a danger zone (that's down in the 20s) but trying to find the cause.

So good luck to us both!
