Hi,
my husband is 6 foot and weighs 16st 7lbs, this gives him a BMI of 31.3 which comes in as obese. He looks very pregnant and is 'thick' everywhere else. He is a policeman but is mainly office based. He can't exercise as much as he used to as he's had a knee op 2 years ago and is now waiting for an ankle/foot op so that doesn't help. He bought a cross-trainer which makes a nice clothes rack! I do try to make him eat less and healthier but he says i'm too thin (5' 7'' & 11 st) and tries to feed me up.
How can I make him see sense and lose weight?
thanks, Wheaten.
Morning everyone,
many thanks for all your help and advice. He gave me a scare this morning when he said he had a tight chest, probably indigestion. We had a good chat (and some tears) and he does realise he has to do something. I'll keep you updated on any progress.
Thank you all once again
Wheaten
"sorry but I hate that "see sense and lose weight" attitude. he is a grown up person and its his choice."
I think thats a bit harsh... maybe she just wants her Husband to be around for a long time and is genuinely worried for his health and lifestyle?
I realise that someone cannot be helped unless they want to change - but think you cannot have a pop at Wheaten as she is obviously concerned for her hubby and loves him!
Wheaten - sounds like your last post means you are getting somewhere.. once he starts - and loses some weight - he will realise how great he feels and it will encourage him to continue! Good luck
Good luck Wheaten. I'm glad you have had a good chat about it. It isn't that difficult to make small changes which make such a difference. It is so easy to get complacent and into a rut. As I said, Mr LL had a wake up call, a very nasty wake up call. His attitude now is completely different and I would certainly give him a nudge if he started getting back into old ways. x Sometimes we nag because we love someone. It's difficult to get the balance right.
Thank you, Nosha and Lofty.
we have been niggling each other a bit in the last 6 months, new town, new house, new job for him, no job for me and a new puppy (wheaten terrier of course) so it's all been a bit full on. Right, off to fill in a job application form now for a job I don't fancy but if it gets a bit of money and gets me out the house it'll do for now.
