my son has been away but due back tonight and i dont want him to know other son has been buying me stuff while he's been away,he will go mad,i need to get myself sorted and quick,i should'nt have let it get to this,by the way how high is 'High'
sqad,i just tested my sugar an hour ago,it was 27'4 on the metre thing,i will start taking the metformin ,2 twice a day,i had cut it down as it gives me terrible bellyache and the runs
Slinky.....don't take two at a time.......take 850mgms three times a day with you food starting tomorrow and watch carefully you carbohydrate intake and take you blood sugars before your meals for two days and get back to us.
Also tonight, have a piece of cheese before you go to bed.
If you don't behave, you will almost certainly be on Insulin injections.
these metformin are 500 mgs,so will i cut it down,i was told to take 2 in the morning and night,or will i take the one tab.3 times a day,oh'i love cheese thats no problem
Slinky there is no need have the runs taking metformin, tell your doctor how they affect you and ask him to give you metformin prolonged-release tablets, same tablets without the runs.
have to say i agree with cazzz. Sqad gives good advice, but for a long term regime of medication, it's much better to consult someone who knows all your medical history and problems, and can then monitor closely any changes made. If you can't tolerate the tablets you have been given, go back to see the prescriber for an alternative, not just chop and change them on the advice of a virtual stranger. sqad's advice may well be the right thing, but conversely it might not. Having prolonged high blood sugars will not only shorten your life, but also ruin the quality of it.
Seriously, take more care of what you are eating, pack in the naughty stuff, I don't know how long you've been diabetic for, but I didn't take proper care of myself, tried to deny (to myself) that I had diabetes, and now 16 years on, have kidney problems, diabetic retinopathy, neuropathy in my feet, no heat sensors left in my feet and spend more time in hospital clinics than anywwhere else at present. You have been warned!, and I'd test your blood sugers a bit more often too.
thank you everyone this has been a wake up call, like islasmum says i think i have been denying it and just taking things as i normally did,so tomorrow i have promised myself to change and go and see the diabetic nurse, thanks again.
