I've just taken my blood pressure after not doing it for a few weeks.
Twice I have took it in half an hour, and both readings have been disturbed by readings going down and then suddenly going higher and higher!
My readings were ---149/73. + 142/62.
Just that sound a bit too high? I am on Simvastatins.

Ah, you lot have put my mind at rest, not that I was really worrying or anything! x lol thanks chums
according to me and my gp, it's the high end of normal, bordering on being too high. as an occasional reading it's ok, but if i consistantly had readings like that i'd have my blood pressure medication increased.
just my opinion of course ;)

have been on simvastatins for a year now. my doctor said it was 160/100, so tablets have brought it down. I am due for doc visit to check on my B.P.
Think I'd worry if it went any higher this week.
Make sure you have not just eaten or drunk anything or had a hot bath or shower in the last half hour before you take your BP. I alwys give mine the best of three goes.
do you take your home readings to the doctor?
mine are always higher when taken at the surgery so i always take my own readings with me and my gp is quite happy to accept them.
are simvastatins taken to lower blood pressure???
sounds perfect. Is it wrist or arm type? The former can be a bit erratic, best to take more than one reading.
to me the 140+ is high. Statins are medication for reducing cholesterol.

just checked again, and its 139/75. mmm sounds good.
Simvastatins are to lower blood pressure.
Always take checks with no hot drinks before taking.
I have an arm band from boots, works very well, and will tell doctor of my reading even though she will take it again. Thanks for replies x
Puss, Simvastatins are to lower cholesterol.
Your blood pressure sounds o.k.
pusskin IS correct............statins lower BP.
well I have learn't something new today then, I though statins lowered cholesterol and blood pressure medication was something completely different.
Ramipril are for blood pressure, Simvastatins are to lower cholesterol
Sammy....statins do both......lower BP AND total cholesterol.
