Well, my body certainly doesn't detox itself. I have found the Carol Vorderman one to be very good. You cut out meat, wheat, dairy, sugar, salt, alcohol and caffeine. There is still lots you can eat. When I did my first detox the results were absolutely astounding. Within a couple of days I had a massive headache (caffeine withdrawl) and ALL the contents of my nose (snot) came out over three days. It was like having a bad cold/flu but it didn't feel like a cold or flu. I have had a stuffy nose all my life- asthma, eczema etc. It felt like a lifetime of toxins were finally coming out. It would have been easy to give up, thinking that I had a cold, but I stuck with it for the next six weeks. It got easier. My nose and sinuses cleared and for the first time in my life I could breathe through my nose. Incredible. Then I started to feel physically much fitter and my skin improved a lot. I re-introduced chicken and fish, but still avoid wheat and dairy now, as I know they just do me no favours. Obviously I go back into bad habits and feel crap again. A few years ago I did the Lemon Detox Diet- tree syrup, cayenne pepper and lemons in water for a week. VERY tough, but fascinating to see how great I felt when not eating anything at all. It really is very good to give your digestive system a rest. I recommend also the "Eat Right for Your Type" book which is based on a diet for your blood group. Very similar ideas, if you are type O then wheat and dairy free detox is what you need to feel better.
