Protein in urine
5 Answers
My partner has type 2 diabetes and has been told by doc he has protein in his urine; he's very worried, although I'm sure there is no reason to be.
Can anyone kindly explain what this is, how it's caused and if it is worth worrying about?
Thanks in advance

However in the case of your partner who has Type 2 diabetes, if it is not well controlled then protein in the urine may indicate kidney problems (diabetic nephropathy) which needs attending to.
I would suggest that his urine is tested again.......to confirm the presence of protein.

Thanks Squad. The doc has requested more samples on Mon.
He take his medication as he should, but is not conscious of what he eats, he doesn't eat healthily enough despite constant nagging from me! He also drinks far too much - we've been trying to sort this out recently also. Could it be the drinking that's caused it - because he needs a wake up call - fast.
