I have fallen over a picture and the edge of the frame has sliced through the joint at the top of the middle toe. It will stop bleeding...I can bleed for Ireland so that is usual but...the top joint, where the nail is, is wobbling and pointing upwards. I believe hospitals don't bother with breaks like this so if, when it stops bleeding , I tape it straight and tightly will that do, do you think....anyone? :-(
It if is badly broken (pointing in the wrong direction kind of broken) I'd go to A&E and have it checked out and see if it is broken and needs to be set in a position to heal properly. It sounds a bit different to a bit of a fracture where everything still looks in place to me.
Would really like to avoid A&E....full of drunks and don't want to add another.
Seriously would like to deal with it myself...bloody painful. Said some words my Irish Ma used to shout at dogs.
Get thee to A&E.
Any break where the joint is exposed can lead to srious infection (back me up here Sqad). This in not gonna be fixed with herbs and gin (sadly).
If there is a wait, threaten them that you are going to puke with the pain and the blood and turn on the act. They hate it (the concept of you puking) and will move you up......
Oh dear.....the bleeding has stopped if I put no pressure on it. I will phone for advice and hope I can deal with it at home......or A&E.
Thank you all. Knickers!
Sqad, I went to A&E and they told me I could have done it myself. After 6 weeks it was still incredibly painful and the bloody GP laughed at me.
2 years later I did it again. Same thing.
2 years later I did it again. This time I think I "undislocated" it. The consistent pain I had been in miraculously went away. It looks a little odd now, but it DOESNT HURT ANYMORE!
Thank you Sqad.....Will wash it again and tape it tightly....will the nurse round the corner be as good as A&E?....Lord I'm awkward I know..just spent too many hours there. It's a rare colour now!
