High Blood Pressure.....
4 Answers
I had a pre op at the end of November and my BP was slightly high and then a medical precedure done just before Xmas and my BP was very high and I was told to get it checked after the holidays.
I went to see the nurse at the Dr's surgery at the beginning of last week and my BP was 'sky high' so Friday she fitted a 24hrs BP monitor on me - I get the results tomorrow.
After looking on the internet I have found out that taking NAIDS drugs can cause high blood pressure. I had been taking Ipubrofen 500mg for approx 18 months ago, 2 yrs ago and then the Dr prescribed Naproxen 500mg which I have been taking 'on and off' since Sept 2011 following a shoulder operation.
I have decided that I am not taking anymore of these tablets, just going to stick with paracetamol.
If the Naproxen is the cause of my high BP - will it go back to normal when the drug is out of my system or will I be put on medication to lower it?
Thank you :-)

I went to the GP last week (bad back) and was told only to use ibuprofen for the short term, use paracetamol instead. The reason he gave was the effect it might have on my BP. (My BP is usually perfectly normal and I take no BP meds or indeed any other regular meds.)
I hadn't heard this before, so assume that something new has 'come out.'
