"my Gay Dad"...
84 Answers
Just having a nose on FB and someone I went to school with has posted pictures of her Dad's recent wedding day, where she was a bridesmaid.
I was flicking through them and thinking "there's lots of pictures of him and the best man". But.... it turns out that was the person he was MARRYING!!
I just don't get it.

He's obviously done a great job as a dad for his daughter to be so happy for him.

Apart from other reasons others have said, it doesn't mean to say that he didn't have a good relationship with your friend's mother, relationships come in all guises, he could have been happy to marry and have a family, many gay men do, especially in the past with attitudes not being quite so open-minded.
One of my exes came out while we were still in a relationship. We ended up brilliant friends, lived and worked together for years after, sometimes often his boyfriends staying, in fact a couple of them worked at the same place as us too. He is now happily married to a man and I'm really happy for him :)

I think I'd be a bit 'surprised' if my Dad suddenly went bleach blonde and got a tango tan, shacking up with his boyfriend who I'd known nothing about, but I wouldn't be shocked or traumatised or anything negative, I'd be more interested than anything and would I be a bridesmaid at a big fat gay wedding? You bet I would- I'd just be worried about all the cross dressers looking better than me.
I think that's the problem I'd have, the life of lies.
Saying that, maybe the wife knew about his likeness of men all along. Who knows.
It would be awful of me to post a picture on here, as much as I want to, but if you could see the wedding snap, you would understand why I was *so* shocked!
My Dad is very much a man's man. He's not homophobic, but he makes no secret of the fact he doesn't 'like' it. Actually, maybe he is homophobic?? Anyway, my point is, I could never in my wildest dreams imagine him ever, EVER doing something like this.

This reminds me of an old post on here but I can't find it. A girl said her friend's mum was now a lesbian and she got slated for being shocked.
