Hello peeps!

I had a radical hysterectomy 6 weeks ago, along with a bilateral salpingo oopherectomy. After a week, i had fresh red bleeding and a scan showed a 4cm haematoma. I also had wound infections, a re-opening of the wound, as well as a bladder infection that i took 2 weeks of nitrofuerin (or something for).

At my final hospital consultation, the consultant confirmed i still have the haematoma and sent off for a specific urine test.

I have just managed to find the results (long story!) and it says there are 9 red blood cells and 6 white blood cells in the urine.

My problem is that i still have pain and discomfort deep inside, especially when i wee and the haematoma seems to be causing a mincemeat-like discharge (sorry!)

The receptionist asked the GP quickly between appointments, and he said there is no infection.

What do the rbc and wbc counts mean please?

TIA

All questions and no answers I am afraid.
First question is "where is the haematoma?".......the vagina?
The RBC and the wbc could indeed be coming from the haematoma which is resolving (healing) OR from an unresolved bladder infection.

I am just wondering why the haematoma wasn't drained.

If you feel well in yourself, no temp etc, I would just monitor the situation until your post operative check up.

I doubt that red and white cells in your urine are of clinical significance (not indicative of active disease, but a by product of your haematoma.)
I have been giving this further thought and all the above could be explained by a presence of a vesico-vaginal fistula ( an abnormal tract between bladder and vagina)

Pure speculation on my part.

Hi sqad, the haematoma is in the vault, mr acharya said the haematoma would drain itself naturally, that was 5 weeks ago, im now getting a red brown discharge that looks like mincemeat.

When i went back for my 6 week check, he looked quite surprised when he examined me, both ex- and internally, and said you still have the haematoma.

Im still feeling totally knackered, sleep all night, then sleep for hours and hours in the day.

I get very hot and sweaty, so much so that my bed is wet with sweat over a large area, but i think thats probably menopausal syndrome.

What do u think i should do, sqad? X

Halifax.

\\ im now getting a red brown discharge that looks like mincemeat. \\

Well this is almost certainly the haematoma draining. I am not sure what can be done to help this at this stage.

\\I get very hot and sweaty, so much so that my bed is wet with sweat over a large area, but i think thats probably menopausal syndrome.\\

Don't assume this is due to "menopausal symptoms." as it may well indicate an infection either in your urine OR in the haematoma.

Are you passing your water through the "right place" or is it coming from higher up in your vagina?....vesico-vaginal fistula is still in my mind.

I would go back to your GP and put to him all the points that I have raised.
