Younger Men!

So is it possible for a big age gap to work where the man is younger and the woman is older? The age gap is 26 and 44. What's your opinion?

I have seen this scenario: Older woman, younger man, about the same age difference. She has been married before and has a nice house, almost paid for. her sons are almost ready to leave home. She gets to be past 50, the man finds younger women more interesting, they split up, and he demands half the value of ( what had been her) house. Instead of looking forward to a restful retirement, she has to extend a full-time job to cover the cost of re-mortgaging the house. If she can even get a mortgage.

That can happen to any couple, totally irrelevant of any age gap.

He can only get half the value of her house if he's been paying into it.

..and that can certainly happen with an older man and a younger woman - the woman clears off, expecting not only half his pension but half his house, if she's contributed to the mortgage etc. Careful financial planning needed...

Scarlet, it is possible, I know of one couple, the age difference is 15 years, no financial benefit, not married, not living together but total devotion and the lady is 95

It is possible. I know a couple where there's a similar age gap and they've been happy together for 15 years with no sign of wanting a change on either side.
They would have been about 26/44 when they got together.

If I didn't know that couple though, I'd probably be saying no chance.

I know a couple with a bigger gap - it did work for a while but as B00 says, the problem was children; at 45 she was twice his age and just too old. (45 isn't always too old, but it was for her.) There was no other problem, though, and they're still friends.
