Tracing Lost Friend

Hi are there any sites where you can trace lost friends I've tried the obvious face book & friends united with no luck, I do have a previous address & old bank sort code, any ideas!

Have you tried joining a Facebook group for their school (if you know it) and asking the people there? Or groups for any of the places they might have worked? You often get people there looking for old colleagues and friends.

Good idea. I'm in my towns group and you often have people asking if anyone knows XYZ from ABC.

No idea of schools etc but i'll give the electoral role a shot thank you all for your help x

I found an old friend by writing a letter to her old next door neighbours. They were still in touch with her. At the very least they might know where your old friend moved to. If you know anyone who uses ancestors.co.uk they might be able to help too.

There are some people who just don't want to be found, or to remember links with the past. If this friend's not on those sites, perhaps that's the case. You could always send a letter to the old address (with your return address on the back) and mark "please forward" - you could be lucky if they know where the person is now.

If the old address you have is not too far away, can you go round there and see who lives there now and perhaps ask neighbours? Or write a letter enclosing a SAE. you could also try the phone book although I realise not everyone is listed in that, you might just get a relative with that name who might help you.I did this recently looking for a relative and I got his ex wife who I gave my number to and she passed this on to him and he got in touch.
