I am a member of a popular hypnosis forum and there are millions of people hypnosis HAS and DO work for.
They've done operations where instead of putting the patient to sleep they have a hypnotist helping somebody go in to hypnosis and they feel no pain.
-In hypnosis, you do have full control and you are aware of what is happening.
-All hypnosis is self-hypnosis, people can guide you in to it though.
-Hypnosis is not sleep.
It can cost quite alot for some hypnosis sessions I've heard but you could even try it on yourself. Find a hypnosis induction script which will get you relaxing first and once you feel like your totally relaxed and comfortable... Suggest to yourself (out loud or in your head in a confident/motivational voice) in many different ways how the pain will disappear. The shorter the suggestions the better as they're easily accepted.
Imagine you can see the pain as a red colour in your foot and imagine it turning light blue which means there is no pain.
Basically, if you can persuade yourself or, maybe easier... Get someone else to persuade you that your foot is fine and aslong as you really believe it, it will be fine.
Good Luck :)
