For the past few weeks I have had a large area (2 hand spans) on my outer thighs that is numb with tingling and a burning sensation but normal temp to the touch. It isn't painful as such, more uncomfortable.
I'm guessing it is nerve related and although it is not inhibiting my day to day life I am wondering ho long I should leave it before seeing a GP.
I have periodic issues with my C spine but not usually much lower despite having arthritis in the lower back and hips.
I haven't been taking anything as I am unsure how to treat it.
I had a numb spot above my right knee for several years I was told it was weight related!! It has now gone! Please don’t think I am assuming that is your issue can you mention it at your next appointment?
with the holidays coming up, I'd see GP asap.
Not an urgent appointment, but more likelihood of seeing GP?
Or see the Chemist and see if they can suggest anything?
Typical.....exact history....classic.
That area is supplied by the lateral cutaneous nerve of thigh which is a branch of the lumbar plexus ( L4-L5 I think).
The nerve is being trapped, probably due to some wear and tear ( arthritis) in the lumbar discs.
I wouldn't go to the doctor.......nothing can and need be done at this stage.
Monitor the situation.
