If they have not seen a doctor within two weeks then it has to be referred to a coroner.
Most of the cases that are certified by the GP go to the coroner because of Dr Shipman in Hyde
it is then a six month suck to get a Death Certificate
Under 20 it is usually electrical ( ht firing abnormally ) and the post mortem just shows they are dead. - get to them early (ha!) you can do decent meaningful DNA studies.
Children are different - the commonest cause of death is leukaemia - in Chicago 5-15y it was - - - gun shot and then leukaemia.
One neighbour - he had chr bronchitis, smoked, chronic pancreatitis, diabetes, oh and was alcoholic and the coroner took six months to issue a death certificate
Another I said - "I dont know why the coroner is dawdling and fiddling over this - he was diagnosed with lung ca and that is plenty to die from"
and the daughter said - because I asked him to hold an inquest.
oo-er mrs ! you cant complain about a delay if you do something like that !
