I'm due to have a CT scan of the heart this Saturday

I note in the notes with the appointment letter that it states -

'' We advise that you either use public transport or arrange for someone to drive you home ''

Given that it does not state that you should not drive ( which is specifically stated in other notes I've had for other things ) - would I be taking a risk in driving to and from appointment and if yes what would that risk be ?

LOL....if it was me having the test and other forms of transport were unavailable.....I would drive myself home.
Maybe it's in case you have a reaction to the CT contrast
is it a CT or an angiogram? i dont think they are the same
if angiogram they go in throught the femoral artery - you might be unable to operate the pedals perhaps?
bednobs...more or less the same....dye injected in both cases.
bednobs...it could be the femoral artery OR the radial artery.
ok. then he might not be able to tur the wheel or change gears comfortably i suppose?
oh god ask them!
they wrote it
and we arent mind readers

if you drive yourself then refuse any sedative....

Consultant's letter said he is referring me for a 'Ct Coronary Angiogram'
Appointment letter states 'CT scan of the heart '
PP...no need to refuse, you don't get a sedative.
Bazile....yes! yes! we know.
You shouldn't drive with anything in your system that makes you drowsy (indeed, it's illegal to do so) and that, apparently, is a risk associated with the medication involved in the procedure:
"The medication can make you a little drowsy for up to a few hours after the scan. Please avoid driving or cycling to or from your appointment. It is also a good idea to ask someone to come with you to the appointment."

Well bazile.....no argument as the NHS website has spoken.

My initioal reply still stands.

The notes does not mention anything about having a sedative.
(The only referral to drugs , is that I may me given a beta-blocker to slow the heart rate down which lasts for up to twenty minutes .)

That's why I wondered why the notes also states -

''We advise that you either use public transport or arrange for someone to drive you home ''

So I take it - it is not dangerous to drive myself back home -
just to clarify - is that your opinion sqad ?
It is.
I just wonder where you would stand if you were involved in an accident on the way home and it came out in the wash that you'd been advised not to drive. The accident doesn't even have to be your fault.
Bazile....to save all this controversy, can't you get a taxi home?

I think I might - lol
LOL......
I am always sympathetic to posters who post on Body and Soul that many of the answers are so confusing, contradictory and bizarre, that i often wonder about the value of this section.
Good luck.
