Just recovered from 8 months continuous pain with Sciatica and started getting pain in the other thigh and knee. Turns out I've got severe arthritis in my left hip and right one's not too clever. Now down for a hip replacement which is great, but doctor cheerfully said when I got over the operation, I would probably start feeling the pain in my right hip. It's going to be a long haul!
I have an awful lot of stress with business these last couple of years, pinnacling a year ago. How did/do I deal with it ? With the understanding and support of my three fanastic kids, when it all came to light they were there for me, Mr.Sam too, although he's not the best in crisis, long long walks alone with my thoughts to keep things in perspective, being with my adorable little grandkids, and a glass of sauvignon blanc in the evenings. My stress was totally financial, all my family are very healthy, touch wood, so once again, perspective.
Thanks everyone for your candid posts. Sorry, I know I haven't replied to every single one of you, but I have read each reply. I hope for less worry/ stress & sadness for each of you. It helps to get a good sleep as Sqad has said, to cope with lifes pressures which I'm lacking at the moment. I think also when you have outside negative things going on, it can only add to it.
I was a manager for many years but never felt stressed. I felt pressured at times. So what's the difference? Stress is verging on panic; not being able to think straight. Pressure is more related to deadlines and targets; knowing what they are and how to deal with them. These are just my own definitions. But I always had a plan "B". What would I do if it all went wrong? I had confidence in myself to believe I could move on if needed. Basically, if people can recognise the difference between stress and pressure, then it goes a long way to managing both.
