its realy a how long is a piece of string question. At least its heading in the right direction. i presume you are talking of egfr?
also i suppose it'll depend on many factors
"same position"? Nobody on here knows, medically, what "position" you are in...the people to answer your questions are those treating you.
A friend of mine is in a similar situation. She will be lucky to be home within 3 weeks. She had to have antibiotics for a chest infection too. Speak to the nurses about your gout and the medication you will need, when they bring the pill trolley round. Hopefully, they will contact a doctor to sort it out.
You have what is known as Stage 3 chronic kidney disease and this may have many causes of which kidney infection is just one. Others are obstruction to the flow of urine such as an enlarged prostate or stones in the renal tract.......others include high BP and diabetes.

In your case.....you had a urinary tract infection which needs to be investigated causing, i would suggest, your abnormal kidney function.

Certain drugs "may " have an effect on your kidneys, but if you need them to stay alive, then so be it.

The kidneys may never heal in that you will always have Stage 3 CKD (chronic kidney disease) but so what, 50 % of the population over 65 years of age, will have kidney damage.......you can live with that.

Do what the Drs tell you and give them some time to find out what caused your UTI...? prostate enlargement or kidney infection.
Be thankful you were diagnosed before it got any worse and you needed a transplant. They can't tell you when you'll be going home because they don't know.
Yes, your kidneys really are 'that bad'.
Trust your doctor - he or she knows what they are doing
Pump thats over a 50% improvement, doctor will not be able to be able to predict your discharge date I am afraid, just the criteria that needs to be met. Hoping you a speedy recovery.
Take this as the wake up call it is, pumpjack, and start managing your diabetes and your alcohol intake.
Glad you're in hospital. The colour of your urine sounded very worrying.

The doctors won't give you medication that will damage you further if there are alternatives. They will also be very reluctant to discharge you until you get somewhere close to what they want you to be.
Did you initially go to the hospital about your swollen testicle? That sounded very painful.
I'm certainly glad you went in and glad you are getting treatment, sorry you aren't getting the information you want/need.

Best wishes.
My kidneys were shot to hell when I was overdosed with contrast dye post aortic stents procedure. Not far off dyalysis consideration. I get gout every so often and used to take diclofenac (50mg) three times a day but was told to stop it due to kidney problems. Nobody offered, prescribed or suggested an alternative so I went back on the Voltarol as and when. Still got a pulse and given up worrying. :-)
The infection sounded really nasty.

I don't know if men suffer with water infections the same as women but if they do...pumpjack must have been in agony.
Oh God they do ummmm. Ever tried passing a razor blade through a uretha. Not necessarily a STD either. :-)
Pretty much the same then. And very easy to get. I suffered quite a lot in pregnancy so probably hormonal.

You've been discharged?

Is there anyone to look after you? I'd take any medication they give me to be honest.
Have you discharged yourself?
