Tissue sample will be taken, 10 minute procedure....please tell him nothing to worry about.
(An Uncle had it done a couple of years ago, it came back clear)

The 'finger test' merely checks to see if the prostate gland is enlarged. (It ruddy hurts too!). It can't identify cancerous tissue (which could be present even if there's no enlargement).

I would concur with Buenchico's 'It ruddy hurts too!'....thought he was looking for the Lost City of Atlantis!
I have a yearly full health 'MOT', done a few weeks ago, and had that done along with bloods, heart check etc which, on my records, is this:
Prostate-specific antigen level (XE25C) 0.56 ng/ml [0 - 3]

I've had several prostate checks and not a single one of them hurt. Male and female doctors doing them.

I was diagnosed with prostate cancer in July of this year. Looking back the symptoms were there for at least 2 years before. Like a few pints on holiday only= visiting toilet frequently. Had a MRI scan then rectal biopsy which was uncomfortable. Having follow up blood tests to keep an eye on PSA level. Which is stable.

I have had the finger test a couple of times and it didn't hurt, and I always say "Was it good for you?" afterwards.

My first was with a new female GP on my first visit to her - I had to advise her that I don't usually do that without dinner and flowers!!

I did have a major biopsy done under general anaesthetic, and when I woke up, I realised that the surgeon must have been unable to find a parking space for his Range Rover that day, because he had clearly parked it in my bottom!!!

I am quite sure, and equally sure that Mrs Zacs smiled with professional patience while a parade of nervous men attempted to address their discomfort with a cliché!!!
