The worst scenario is a dry socket which is when, as it says, the crater dries out. That is flaming agony!!!!
Don't worry too much and DON'T prod at it!!! It will heal with time - just keep an eye on it and see the dentist if it becomes very painful.
Know what you mean traceymort - my boyfriend found NHS dentistry so stressful that he ended up having a breakdown. He now, luckily, has a job training dental nurses which he loves.
I am fortunate to be registered with an NHS dentist but have had a huge hole in one tooth for over 6 months now and haven't been able to get an appointment until March!!! Keep trying to persuade my boyfriend to come out of 'retirement' but he just says he is no longer registered or insured and doesn't have the necessary tools - for some reason he doesn't think my black and decker and some polyfilla will do!!!!!!!!
Sure you'll be ok 'cheap' but always better to get it checked out.
