Feeling dizzy when you stand up is a sign of postural hypotension (i.e. low blood pressure) but that, in itself, is just a 'symptom' (as a headache or a cough is), rather than a 'condition' or a 'disease', so there could be many causes.

However it can occur to people who're taking medicines to reduce their blood pressure or simply to people who're dehydrated. (Are you drinking at least 3 litres/5 pints of water every day?). It can also be linked to kidney problems (as I found out in hospital after my kidneys nearly packed up last year).

If is doesn't improve, contact your GP for advice.
When was your BP last checked? What about your sugars and any further weight loss?
See your GP soonest.
too much gin ?
Nowhere near enough information for a personal assessment of your problem.
On a gut reaction,my feeling is that it may well be viral in origin and no big deal at the moment and that you should rest for the day, take your Paracetamol and monitor the situation.
I had something similar around April and had a telephone consultation with my GP. They diagnosed it as labyrinthitis.

In blood pressure meds, as well as vitamins D and B12 and lansoporale, all prescription strength.
Tbh, no idea how much I drink as I never feel thirsty, not a chance of resting too much going on with work.
Thanks all and Sqad to you hope your feeling better
LOL....thanks Martin, don't worry about, my health,as I have had a good innings and nothing is forever.
Out of interest

Is it only water that you should drink to counter dehydration

Would tea / coffee / fizzy drinks work just as well ?
Question Author
Good question baz as I only really drink coffee and protein shakes
Bazile, water is the number one hydrater, but milk is just as good and down the table comes other fluids, all hydrate in varying degrees. Perhaps one should be careful with coffee, tea and alcohol, but no big deal if they take your fancy in moderation.
Bazile, we also get a lot of fluid from food. Many people never drink water on its own but never get dehydrated. https://www.bda.uk.com/resource/fluid-water-drinks.html
I drink a lot of low /nil calorie fizzy drinks

So I'm still being hydrated , even though it might not be as efficient as water

Yes ?
Baz - if your urine is a very light colour then you are hydrated (don't include the first one in the morning)
Yes, you are, Bazile. I never drink water. I drink lots of tea, coffee, the occasional alcohol and my urine is too frequent and very light coloured so I know I am well hydrated.
Right -ok
Martin, as ummmm says if your urine is light in colour, you would not be dehydrated, I have learned over past year to drink at least 2 ltr water - works out 1 pint and bit more around meal times so it easy remember, I am a divil for coffee so it has been suggested I add more water to my recommended daily dose because coffee to the extent I was drinking it, dehydrates. I fill one of those big hydrate bottles in morning with fresh water and by bed time, it has to be empty. After that, I can't say why your dizzy, sounds like BP - if your near a pharmacy, get it checked out if you not really fancying go to gp. Keep strong xx
I find water much easier to drink with lots of ice. We go through bags of ice...
You buy ice? Or use bags to make ice cubes?
I buy it. There's 7 of us in the house though.
