Severe Reaction To Covid Vaccine

If someone has a severe reaction to the first should they still have the second?

I would presume so, if they want the maximum coverage.

Depends what you are classing as severe. To me severe would be anaphylaxis, to others a few hours of high temp would be severe

My Dad who is 85 years old had his 2nd dose of the vaccine at the vaccination centre, after which he began to have blurred vision on the way home.
When he got home, he called the vaccination centre for advice and to ask if he should go to see a doctor, or be hospitalised.
He was asked to go back to the vaccination centre immediately as he had left his glasses behind.

One persons idea of severe is another's idea of no big deal.
Only last week I was issued with a couple of Epi Pens.
I had mine yesterday, with no big reaction, although I was expecting it.
Had a really severe headache that started after 15 hours and I haven't moved of the chair today. Still feeling a bit stunned.
Without doubt will return for the second.

As bednobs says you need to define severe because if there has been one it has not been mentioned among the 21 million so far in the uk

i had bad reaction, but will go and get the second vaccination when called..

there has been enough on here who have had bad reactions to the jab.
some like barsel i think, though don't quote me, was quite ill.....

As has been said in other places, that's one to take advice from the doc on...and then decide where the greatest risk is.

What reaction did you have, emmie? Was it the Oxford/AZ?

Last Friday evening I took my daughter to have her injection. As she went into the centre a guy in his fifties came out. Sat in my car I thought to myself.. 'He looks a bit wobbly'.
No sooner had he got in his car than his wife went running into the centre and came back out with six members of staff. They more or less carried him back into the centre.
Don't know the outcome !

I'd urge the person to do two things - first tell their GP how ill it made them (if they haven't already) secondly to discuss what to do about the second dose.

yes it was brainiac, it came on about 5pm, i got terrible shakes, couldn't stop, head to toe, teeth chattering too, lasted about
3 hours, went to bed with it, eventually dropped off to sleep. woke with thirst and the effects gone. but did rather startle me.

I don’t consider headaches, tiredness and feeling a little under the weather to be severe reactions but I do consider shaking uncontrollably from head to toe for quite some time and very debilitating flu type symptoms for two days to be rather severe.

whoever it was said they were violently sick, and more besides, i can't remember whether it was barsel.

I had the O/AZ and felt okay, though when I took my temperature before I went to bed I was surprised to see it was 100F. No other problems, I'm relieved to say.

Oh, I forget to mention the unquenchable thirst throughout the first night.
